Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to use a 3 VDC motor from a Beogram type 5773 on a Beogram 4002 Series 5523 turntable?

The type 5773 motors are readily available and affordable (~$20) on Ebay whereas the 4002 series 5523 motor are very hard to find (if not impossible).

I believe both motors are rated for 3VDC.

Thanks in advance!

I seem to remember them having a different servo feedback.
Aren't the number of leads to them different too?

But can't the motor from your Beogram 4002 be rebuilt?
(The other motors will soon need that too anyways).

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately I don't have the original motor.  I bought the turntable on Craigslist with full disclosure that the motor didn't work.  The price was greatly reduced so I thought I'd give it a shot.

What I found when I opened it was a DC 3V motor with model number MHN-3P2RDB.  At the time I didn't realize this wasn't the original motor.  It wasn't till later after browsing these forums that I made that discovery.  Although it is a 4-conductor motor, it was modified to 3-conductor.  In addition, it was incorrectly plugged into P2, not P1.

After changing a blown fuse and plugging into P1, it did run, albeit for a short time.  After about a minute, the motor slowed until it stopped and no longer works.

Any thoughts or ideas?  Can I manually test the motor with an external power supply?  I used a DMM to read the voltage at connector P1 after I press START and got no readings, ie 0 VDC.

Thanks in advance for any help.

John
