Hi, I have bought a beomaster 3500 receiver and matching CD player.  The aluminium front panel of the receiver has a deep scratch.  The finish is a satin dark grey colour.  I need to know If the dark grey finish would be original.  I was planning to basically sand down the surface to get below the scratch and then refinish.  I could probably use wire wool to produce a brushed aluminium finish or I could use spray paint to reproduce the current grey colour.

And how do I remove the panel from the unit?  The glass has already been removed.

Many thanks,  John

The grey colour is original, you would have to have it resprayed. As far as I remember they used panels on the 3500 series that were considered not good enough for the 4500 series due to flaws which is why they were sprayed. Not sure what finish you would get if you removed the paint. I would have the colour matched and the Beomaster and Beogram CD resprayed.
