I have a beocenter 2500 with a not functioning keypad.

But the remote seems to work but can I open and close the CD tray with a remote?

I have a Logitech harmony working but there is no option to open and close the CD tray.

I was thinking of buying a B&O remote if you can open and close the CD tray by remote?

Thanks

No sadly you can't.

(And I am just about to reply to your other thread/question!)

Some CD players were activated with one of the coloured buttons (yellow??)

The original BS 1 CD/Radio had up/down Ariel functionality with these buttons too FYI

Dont think it would work, because it has to open the magic doors first…

It is actually possible to transmit a 'Load' command via IR to different B&O systems, but I don't know if a normal B&O remote control is able to do it somehow. If one had the IR code and a device, that could transmit it, it should be possible, as I have a device, that I know is able to send out the 'Load' command.

I have several B&O music systems I've tried it out with. The doors of fx a Beocenter 2500 will open followed by the CD tray if I remember correctly, and it will also open the lid on a Beogram CD4500 and Beocord 4500, so it must be embedded in the software of most B&O systems; maybe for use in the burn-in process at the factory?

Hello Dennis,

could you describe the LOAD command format (in hex)?

Something like "00 01 xx" (like 00 01 83 is A.AUX)

Then I could check this out

greetz,

Hi Gunther,

Great idea!

I would need to fire up my Lintronic box in order to convert the IR signal into hex, but unfortunately the device and the Lintronic box is packed away at the moment. I will try to dig them out and convert the signal at some point, but I have quite a busy schedule at the moment with school beginning again next week end a car that needs to be ready for MOT/HU.

An idea would be to point that remote at a B&O ML device that is connected to a BLGW and use the monitor feature of the BLGW to detect what command is being sent. I wonder if it might be one of the CONTROL commands -- for example. Then, the correct command could be sent from a B&O remote.

Another solution would be using a Global Cache IR emitter. You could capture the IR code and then use a macro with the BLGW to emit that code via the Global Cache emitter.

Apart from the technical challenge, am I the only one wondering about the practical use of such a function?
I mean, you will have to go to the player to load or change discs anyways, - or am I missing something?

I recall a thread on this forum years ago about the interest especially with a BeoGram CD 4500 to reduce fingerprints and excessive touching of the touch-control panel.

Oh..
And the OP has a non-working keyboard on his Beocenter 2500.
Makes sense now... perhaps. Geeked

Sorry, it was the membrane behind the keypad, this is the place I bought it from. It takes a bit of time and a sharp chisel.

A bit of help perhaps..  All the codes are here:

http://mlgw.bang-olufsen.dk/source/documents/mlgw_2.24b/MlgwProto0240.pdf

I believe that load command is actually the EJECT command 0x2D

I am 100% sure you could do this with the AV terminal, which by by far is the most versatile of the IR remotes. A lot of the deeper, cool functions was unfortunately lost in the BEO4 implementation, although the codes still exist!

I've found some surprising codes available when programming a Beo5/Beo6. Maybe looking for the EJECT command there could show some Beo4 equivalent button combination.

Any idea of the key sequence?  I presume you have to use the SHIFT or CONTROL button?  Can it be done with the BL5000?

I found the EJECT command in the Beo5/6 configuration and created a button for it. It works! I tried it on my BeoSound 2300 and my BeoGram CD 4500 and it opens the door and/or clamper.

The Beo5/6 configuration tool only showed the command as "EJECT." It did not show any alternate command name.

I am playing with it right now Smile

I remember opening and closing the tray on the CD player  in the 5500 system using the AV remote, I dont know about the BL5000 though!

There was a lot of easter eggs in that remote. One I vividly remember was the ability to use wildcards in text tv. *** would simply show the entire set  of pages flashing by as they were decoded, quite fascinating, and doing it on someone else's TV always made people panic... Smile

I will let you know if i succeed.

Can you by any chance check if this works on an internal BD/DVD on a TV?

I"m afraid that I don't have a Beovision with a built-in BD/DVD player. However, I did notice that the behavior was a bit different on my BeoSystem 4500 than it was on my BeoSound 2300. With the BeoSound 2300, all I had to do was press EJECT and the doors opened and the clamper opened. Pressing EJECT again on the BeoSound 2300 closed the clamper, closed the glass doors, and started the CD playing. With the BeoSystem 4500, pressing EJECT by itself did nothing. I had to first press CD and then EJECT to get the aluminum CD door to open. Pressing EJECT a second time had no effect. I had to instead press PLAY to get the door to close and the CD playing. I'm assuming this might be because the EJECT command would also be used for the TAPE player to raise its door after pressing TAPE first. However, since I don't have my BeoCord 4500 connected, I couldn't test this.

In the event that someone does try testing the EJECT button with an internal BD/DVD or BeoCord VHS, you might need to choose "TV" rather than "RADIO" as one of the variables in creating the IR code for the Beo6  button. I used RADIO for my IR type.

FYI, I found the EJECT command in the BLGW setup for building macros. However, a problem with some of these older ML audio system is that they might not be compatible to connect to the BLGW as a node.

It occurred to me that even if they couldn't connect as a node on their own, you could also connect them to the BLGW with an NL/ML Converter to get the EJECT command sent to them!

I checked the Clobal Caché database and they have the EJECT command in their database to use with an iTach IR emitter to be controlled by a BLGW macro.

I was mistaken about the Global Caché database. I misread "EXIT" for "EJECT." They don't have EJECT in their database.
