My 8002 starts fine but stops part way through the record (about 1/3) the tonearm then appears to continue and then push up against the tracking arm, the record continues to play but not move forward. What might be causing this. This is a new to me unit and this is the first time that i have tested it.

In order of likelyness:

- Teflon sheet from lid damper has come lose and moved down, blocking the carriage.
- Dirt and/or dried lubricants on the threaded shaft.
- Bad or wrong carriage motor belt
- Electronic problem

Thankks Martin for the info, I have a couple of questions tho, where and what is the teflon sheet located and how do I access it? How to remove the plastic deck, is it the big round screw under the aluminum lid?
