Hi guys
My beloved 32" Avant RF in the basement has been working fine for years. Though all of a sudden I am unable to turn it on using my Beo4. I have tried my BeoRemote One in Beo4 IR mode aswell. The TV will turn on just fine when I use the buttons on the TV itself so the power supply and the TV set are working fine. Do you guys have any suggestions? Maybe the IR receiver has been covered by dust. But I have not been able to find information about its location.
I really hope that there is a somewhat simple solution to this
BeoVision Eclipse 55, BeoPlay S8 (sub+rears), BeoPlay A9 MKII (living room), BeoVision Avant 32 DVD (retro gaming, basement), BeoLab 4000 (entertainment room, basement), BeoSound 8 (workshop), 2x BeoPlay S3 (PC), BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay H2/H3 (on the go)
If you look carefully in the upper left corner of the display part you will see two circular openings. This is where the IR receiver diodes are located.
Thank you, BEOVOX141. I will have a look
I might be able to provide you with a replacement IR receiver board if we can narrow the issue down to the receiver.
Here is a picture of the display board, the IR diodes are as I said in the upper left corner below the transparent plastic piece.
The board is from a technical point pretty impressive. The IR receiver has a dynamic range of 90dB despite being right on top of the CRT, and next to a discretely built display driver for dot matrix display. It did require an elaborate double sided interlocking shield can and as you can see copper tape!
Hi Beoberg
Before breaking out the screwdriver, have you tried option programming just to make sure it isn't something as simple as a quirk that has changed the settings?
Factory setting is option 1. If it went to option 0 it would ignore all ir commands.
It's a long shot but costs nothing to check first.
Opman
Hi Opman and Beovox
Thank you both of you. I will check during the weekend
I gave the TV a thorough cleaning. Switched the mains on and pressed TV on the remote and "voi la" it turned on. I am so relieved
Best regards,
Frederik
