Hi all,
I have been lurking in the forums for a few weeks whilst waiting for the various bits of my new (to me) B&O 5500 system arrive. So far I have the Tape Deck, Beomaster Amp and the Beogram TT... still need to purchase speakers, cd deck and MCP.
During lockdown I realised that I miss the experience of sitting down and _listening_ to music. Spotify is quick & convenient but not always satisfying. Hoping that going back to the old ways of tape + vinyl will rekindle some of that magic.
So why the 5500 series? I had some ideas about what I was looking for..
1) Separates 2) Affordable and ideally from the 80's 3) Repairable 4) Something that could take additional inputs without too much faff 5) Looks - I saw how the tape deck slides out and the MCP and was hooked. Another factor was seeing the active community here of users and experts alike.
Ive started to clean down the units I have so far and connected a couple of cheapo speakers to test things work, just need to create some space for its permanent resting place.
Looking forward to being a member of the B&O community.
Gareth

Great system! My father in law gave me the virus when he bought a full 5500 set with Pentas, brand new back then. He still uses the BeoMaster every day I now have the shiny BM6500 and BG CD 7000 with Lab8000s and a Lab2 and enjoy them a lot. I hope you can get the system complete and playing your favorite music soon.
Welcome to Beoworld and to B&O!
