Is there a way to manually release the tape heads on a Beocenter 9500?  I played a C-90 tape today, using the 'skip to the next track' function.  The tape came to the end of the side, but wouldn't release.  It won't rewind, and it won't play (of course).  I can hear the motors straining.

Fixes attempted:  unplugging/plugging in the unit has no effect.  Cannot manually rewind the spindles.  Selecting the 'turn' function shows on the dashboard that the tape direction has turned, but otherwise nothing changes.  No rewind, no tape advance.

Belt was professionally replaced about 6-9 months ago.

Suggestion?  Is there a magic manual release somewhere?

Belt was professionally replaced - yes, but with what?

Sorry, but I hear stories like this every single day now.
A boring read it would surely be, but this thread of mine could be 10 times as long by now if I only could be bothered updating it;

There's no manual release.
It is possible to disengage the tapeheads by rotating the large flywheels - but it can be fiddly, depending on the drive type.
The drive needs to be taken out, then the fault must be repaired, which most likely involves fitting new belt(s) (of the correct type) and perhaps a new motor (that wouldn't come as a surprise).

In your case, I think I would take it back to whoever serviced it.
The repair may not be under warranty anymore, but any decent repairer would agree to take a look at it, since it failed only a few months after being serviced.

PMs and emails are not the same;

- PMs are sent as "conversations" here. You can (perhaps - it depends on many things, not all clear to me, but sometimes you will need to ask for mutual friendship first) start one with me by clicking on my name "Dillen" out left and then see if the "start conversation" option is available.

- Emails are rarely sent (even if it looks that way), - it depends on properties set up by your email host server.
Generally, things that only almost work is standard today and seems to be what the young people prefer - we older just have to live with it while slapping our foreheads.
The Beoworld forum is a quite modern site in that respect.

The safe way to contact me is to go to beoparts.com and use the contact form.
