Since the most recent software update my Lab 5's have refused to turn off. The speakers are either active with the green light on or inactive with the red light on.

Setup = Beosound Essence Mk2 - Beosound Remote - Beolab 5's

Normally after a short period of inactivity the red light goes out. I have also been able to turn them off by pressing the dark dot at the bottom of the Essence Remote for a few seconds. This no longer turns them off.

I have updated the software and rebooted and factory reset but all sadly to no avail.

when the they are on stand by, the red light is on constantly. only when you disconnect the power the light goes off.... mine are from 2010 and always have behaved that way. So looks like yours behave just fine as they should.

I'm guessing there must be different ways to set these speakers up. Below is an extract from page 4 of the Beolab 5 user guide.

Switching on and off

When you switch on your Bang & Olufsen system, the loudspeaker switches on simultaneously. The indicator light shines green*, indicating that the loudspeaker is switched on. When you switch off your Bang & Olufsen system, the indicator light becomes solid red for a while and then switches off (standby).

This is how my speakers worked until the software update.

As far as I know the indicator light behavior was changed during the evolution of the BL5.

When on, always green.

older modes when off they had the red lighting always on

there was a software update because of the Euro emissions thing so the ref light went out after a few seconds

most recent updates I think you can choose red light on or off.
