I have an active kit with two bl4000's linked to a bs9000 on another floor. The volume on the 4000's comes on louder than I like. How do I adjust it ?

Assuming you're using a Beo 4 you need "A.SETUP" from "LIST".
(Maybe you will have to "ADD" the command to your "LIST" first)

-  Play an audio source
-  Press repeatedly "LIST" till "A.SETUP" is displayed on the Beo4
- "GO"   >> Display changes to "BASS" - adjust bass, using  "STEP UP" or "STEP DOWN"
- "LIST" >> Display changes to "TREBLE"  - make adjustments using  "STEP UP" or "STEP DOWN"
- "LIST" >> Display changes to  "LOUDNESS"  - "STEP UP" = ON or "STEP DOWN" = OFF
-  Now adjust volume, using "VOLUME DOWN" or "VOLUME UP" to set the start volume
- "LIST" >> Display changes to  "S.STORE"
- "GO" stores ALL sound adjustments, including volume at start.
