I currently have a pair of Beoplay S8s but due to issues with the Connection Hub b&o might end up refunding my purchase. My question is if the Beosound Stage can catch up to the Beoplay S8 sound wise, or perhaps if the Stage is even better considering its newer technology. I have a non-b&o TV and won't be investing in a BeoRemote one.

If it were me, I’d take a Stage over the S8 any day. The fact that it supports Dolby Átmos and technology in the Stage seems far more advanced.

B&O in my life 😊:

  • Beolab 8002 + Beolab 2 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Office)
  • Beolab 6000 + Beolab 11 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Bedroom)
  • Beoplay A9 Mk2 (Living Room)
  • Beosound 1 with wireless dock (Portable)
  • Beosound Balance (Dining)
  • Beoplay H95 (Focused listening, travel)
  • Beoplay H9 (3rd gen) (retired)
  • Beoplay P6 (Portable)
  • Beotime wall clock (hallway entrance)
  • BMW X5 50i with B&O Audio Package (Commute/drive)

Hi, I think the soundbar and the S8 system are two different things. I personally think that the soundbar is great for film and music. The bass and spatial sound are amazing. However, the S8 can do a bit more when it comes to music. If I had to choose, I would choose the soundbar, the concept fits perfectly in medium-sized rooms.

Best regards

Hannes

Is the issue between the S8 and the connection hub or the connection hub and the TV.

What I’m getting at is if there is a compatibility issue with your TV, will the Stage be able to “fix” it? Can you ask the dealer / retailer for a demo and if it suits you in your home, then purchase?

Or if it is just the connection hub can that be fixed and your S8 speakers are OK?

Just a few Q’s to think of

Cheers

I think he's talking about the "curse" of the B&O connection hub: that idling his pitch noise…

I just tested the stage and I think it’s better then the s8. It havn’t got a wide stereo image. But in every other aspect it’s better and have a tighter sound.

Beovision 7-55 MK1 red, Beolab 10 red. Beolab 50, all black. Beolab 17 broken ice. Beolab transmitter. Apple tv4 and apple express 2.

Thanks everyone for your inputs. Yes I'm talking about the curse of the Connection Hub (high pitch idling noise). The only way this can be fixed is to use the speakers with a B&O TV (so they connect through powerlink) and since I don't have That much money they only other solution would be to go with another product. Both music, tv and movies are important to me. I like the S8 subwoofer but the unability to adjust the bass has been quite annoying, and the lack of wirelessness.

The speakers are completely fine but since I bought the S8 MK2 it’s a package solution meaning they would have to take back the speakers AND the hub. I wouldn’t be able to use the speakers without the hub since I don’t own a B&O-tv.
