I was searching for a soundbar for my non-B&O TV and came across the Beolab 7.1
After som quick research i found that it was possible to connect if i only had the proper cable that gave me the trigger signal.
I picket up https://www.av-connection.dk/?PNo=AV-TRUSBDIN8 and the https://www.av-connection.dk/?PNo=BO-PLM2-018B
But even though i got it connected i did not get any sound.
I removed the cap to see that the speaker actualle responded to my 5V USB power - and it did.
It turns on.
When i hook it up to my computer 3.5mm jack (a bit more conveinent than testing in the living room) i only get a tiny tiny amount of output power if i crank the volume all the way up on the computer.
The same thing happens when i hook up different other sourcer with 3.5mm jack.
The 10.000$ question is - is the speaker broken or the cables simply just poor quality?
I dont own any B&O Device that has powerlink and i cant rule out if it will work with powerlink directly.
(The speaker was picked up second hand at the local B&O dealership - but before i start bugging them - i want to make sure i am not the idot ;-))
Just to clarify - when i say 'removed the cap' i mean the cap protection the lille diode that indicates if the speaker is in standby or on.
I currently have a BL 2 that uses an external trigger connected directly to a non B&O TV and the volume to my BL 8000 speakers that are connected through the BL 2 is fine. Make sure the volume is up all the way from one of the devices if you have two devices in the mix with volume control. I also have a set up that only uses RCA line in (no PowerLink at all) and it also works fine with an LG Projector and Apple TV 4K.
B&O in my life 😊:
My 2 cents is that I would not use the USB adapter and go with the type Steve sells that is powered off the main. I tried the USB powered one and I got a lot of noise (in fact I bought the exact same cable you have).
This one has been bugging me since the last post.
Just to be sure i did'nt get anything upside down on the Beosound 7.1
Should'nt i be able just to pickup an output from e.g. my cellphone?
Or does it need to pre-amplified in any way?
I just hooked it up to lab grade PSU just to rule about crappy trigger power - its the same.
I've looked through this danish forum and checked all connections is was according to spec (https://forum.recordere.dk/rd-for-tilslutning-af-aktive-hjttaler_topic80082_page31.html) - seems like the cable is made as it should.
