Reading this forum, there seems to be a lot favorable comments about the Eclipse and quite some bashing of the Horizon. Not sure this is capturing the sentiment well, but am curious to hear what is driving this.
It seems that the negative sentiments on the Horizon stem from the lack of HDR as well as the outdated Android OS, which doesn't show any signs of receiving an upgrade to 7 or 9.
If I were to connect the Horizon with an ATV, I basically don't need to ever see the Android OS as I could boot straight into the ATV? Does the ATV 4k fit into the Horizon as it is slightly larger than the ATV?
What else do think not like about the Horizon and what makes people more favorable about the Eclipse?
Its not just that the Horizon is not OLED, but as LCD/LED panel its not very good at all.
For movies with dark scenes, its close to unwatchable.
Sure, BBC news will look fine on it in a store, but as for anything more capable / demanding, its a pretty substandard TV.
The Horizon is based on the new LG panels so should support HRD. The one reason I would avoid the Eclipse now is because of the lack of HDR. The Horizon PQ and AQ is likely the very top of class based on current specs.
B&O in my life 😊:

LOL. There is no competition between the Horizon and Eclipse. For some reason I thought the Eclipse was released before LG supported Dolby Vision and Atmos. In that case, the Eclipse is pretty close to current OLED in terms of PQ.
However, the closest competitor to an Eclipse is probably an LG C9 with a BS Stage. Or even an E9 with a BS Stage. I believe both the C9 and E9 have native Atmos support, or you can connect either to an Apple TV and get Dolby Plus and Atmos.
The E9 screen is super thin and has an amazing side profile.
