Hi, I think I read all comparison threads about the BS5 / BS5encore, but there is no mention of the difference in UI performance between the two. I know that installing a SSD on beomaster 5 improves the speed considerably. I only played with the BS5 a few times in a store, and it keeps appearing on my whishlist, despite the old technology and windows xp involved. My Beomedia 1 was too slow for me (starting up, skipping tracks, etc), but I fear the BS5 is similar.
Can anyone shed some light on the differences in user interface performance and navigation speed with Beo4 between:
a) BS5+BM5 with standard HDD
b) BS5+BM5 with SSD
c) BS5 encore (in my case it would be wired with ethernet to a synology ds418 NAS)
My current preference is option b since I can choose to start N.music on BS5 using A.MEM/A.TAPE in Beo4, which is not possible on the BS5e. And the BM5 is more hackable than the BS5e I think.
Thanks in advance, and please point me to a different thread if this is discussed before!
Beosound 5 Encore + Beosystem 5500 + S45.2; BV7-40 MKV + BL7.1 + BL14.4+ AppleTV4; various link rooms with MCL2 A or MCL2 A/V + RL60.2 / CX100 / CX50 & Cona / IWS2000; BG4000; Beosystem 1200 + BV1600.
Bump up of this thread.
Any (former) dealers out there with experience? I am looking for the difference in UI performance between BM/BS and BS5 encore.
And if the music is locally placed on the HDD of the BM vs. streamed from a NAS in the network to the BM5?
As background: I want to add either a BS5 or a BS5 Encore to my Beomaster 5500 system for my digital music and radio, without the need for a iPhone or iPad.
