Hello, first I want to thank this forum and its members, I've been a member for 10 years and have learned a lot, but this is my first time posting.
I have a Beomaster 5000 in mostly good working order-muting function is not working, but otherwise no problems in the 2 years I've been using it. It's been connected to a Beogram 5000 record deck and a Sony 400 cd carousel while I searched for other components.
I've finally picked up a working Beocord 5000, and have managed, using the advice on this forum, to re-lube and rebuild my CD50 so it reads discs and runs silently. I also bought a non-working Beogram 5005 and managed to get that working also-again thanks to these forums.
Needless to say, I was beyond excited to sit down with the full system and enjoy using the MCP to control all functions, while I sit back and listen. I hooked it all up, only to find my Beomaster is no longer communicating with either the 5000 or the 5005 record decks! *sigh* The same buttons work fine controlling the Beocord and CD50, so I don't believe the MCP is the problem.
I've read other threads, and am aware the cords can become damaged because of the unfortunate angle they plug in to the back of the unit. However, neither the 5000 or 5005 will work with the MCP, leading me to believe the problem is with the connection in the Beomaster (not the cables).
I did notice something curious when I was testing the record decks: When I have selected the phono input with the MCP, it switches to the phono on the Beomaster 5000 as it should, but it does not wake up the record deck. It does, however, make a low-volume beep each time you press the keys on the MCP to try and control the turntable. The sound reminds me of an old Atari game. It does not make this sound when I select Tape 2 and press buttons.
If this is a symptom of a greater problem that goes beyond the connector, I'd love to know before attempting to repair it. I assume it's just the sound made when the remote signal isn't 'linking' to the Beograms? Anyone else noticed this?

I had the same issue, and it was solved with a new plug for the Beogram - it was a loose connection/bad plug.
I have a Beosystem for spares, if you should need some parts (Beomaster, Beocord, MCP, CD50) :)

Thanks for your help and fast response. During testing last night I discovered that the 5005 has lingering issues that might be contributing to the problem.
Thanks for your offer of spares, I have an unused Beolink with attached cable and will try that first.

To summarize: You can plug the Beogram record deck into the CD/AUX DIN connector as a way of testing the control functions. If your cable is good, you will be able to control the turntable and hear low volume sound output. If your cable is defective, no controls.
My 5005 runs great plugged into the CD/AUX, so it would appear my issue is inside the Beomaster. I'll look at the solder joints where the socket bay board is soldered to the preamp in the Beomaster and the protective diodes on the datalink signals in both units (thanks Martin for this information from the other thread).
I'll update when I have time to take it apart.
Just a final update, the problem was not the Beomaster. I had to sort a power button issue the the Beogram 5000 and ended up resoldering the DIN cable. The problem was intermittent with that deck and the cable fixed it. I'm not sure why the 5005 was acting up that day, since then, no problem.

I´ve recently sold my Beosystem 5000, and the night before it got picked up, it started acting up. The Beogram would not play, and the remote didn´t switch on the Beogram when "Phono" was activated. It turned out to be a cracked solder joint in the Beomaster, behind the Phono socket.
