Nice to meet you all, this is my first post.

My current setup is a Beovision Eclipse 55 with two Beolab 3 as surround speakers. The overall audiovisual experience is little short of amazing, nothing to complain there really.

But... I also have an old Beolab 11 lying around and I am wondering if it would be a good idea adding it to the setup. Would it actually be an upgrade from the internal speakers of the eclipse? (they are impressive in the low range, I must say)

Anyone using an Eclipse with a BL11 in the forum?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I would say, you certainly should use that.....now that you already have it.

Setting up a subwoofer however, requires a bit of work.

You will have to deal with the bas management setup in the Eclipse and you should look for the right place in the room, too.

The best thing to do is to try it out - make additional speaker groups with the BL11 in different places.

Don’t expect thunder and lightning from this fine little subwoofer - with music you will certainly notice it, if you play loud.

General rule: you should not notice that a subwoofer is there, but you should definitely notice when it is not there (anymore).

If you need something to read and guide you a bit, this might help:

Have fun testing :-)

I would say try it, but don't expect wonders from it as it's a bit of a baby sub.Smile

Hi Millemissen,

thanks for your reply, those links you shared are extremely interesting.

The thing is, I have the BL11 because it was part of my previous setup: an Horizon (configured as central channel) + 2x BL3 as right and left front channels + BL11.

I can say the difference with or without the BL11 then was noticeable, but actually the Eclipse I have upgraded to is so much more powerful and rich than before... at my usual listening levels I really do not feel like the low freqs are lacking, on the contrary.

Anyway I can not test it now right away because I would have to run new cables in the wall to hook it up, it is not straightforward. That's why I was looking for first-hand experience of Eclipse + BL11 on the forum. I might try fiddling around anyway, I just need to find the time :)

Thanks again!

Hi R

I do have my Eclipse setup with a bl11 (and bl6000). And it is indeed a subtle addition. Especially when playing music or a movie at louder sound. So when you can connect it I would say do it.

Beofan with current setup Beovison Eclipse 55, Beosound 35, Beolab 6000, Beolab 11, Beoplay A9 Mk4, Beoplay E6
