Hi all. Is it ok to have a pair of each hooked up and running along side each other. I’m thinking a pair of Beovox S45 in one room and a pair of BeoLab 6000 in another. Also can you just turn off the 6000s and leave the others working without unplugging. Sorry if this is a daft question but I’m new to B & O stuff. Thanks in advance. Steve

Hi Steve,

What device is driving the speakers? A Beomaster, a Beocenter or an old BeoVision?

Devices that have both speaker level and Powerlink sockets will drive both kinds of speaker simultaneously. But the issue is the muting of one pair of speakers and not the other.

The cheapest option may be to buy an old speaker switch box and place it between the source device and the S45s, then switch to a different speaker pair on the box to turn off the S45s. This would leave the BL6000s running regardless of how you set the box.

For greatest ease of use and flexibility you would need to buy one or more devices and perhaps some cable to connect the speakers in the second room. Something like an Xtra speaker kit (for the S45s), or an MCL2AV (for the BL6000s).

Thanks Lawrence. That’s really helpful. Sorry for the late reply. I have a Beocenter 9300 and a Beogram  3000 turntable. I would only want to use the speakers in another living room quite rarely. Thanks again. Steve

Hi Steve,

With the Beocenter 9300 pressing ”Mute” will silence all speakers connected to the Powerlink sockets (both 1 and 2) and all passive speakers connected to Speaker 1 sockets. You cannot simply mute the passive speakers connected to Speaker 2 sockets (without buying more kit).

This might help you decide which speakers to put where.

Good luck.

Thanks Lawrence. I think I will be going down the speaker switch box route. Possibly with a BeoLab 3500 stereo speakers on the wall. Cheers. Steve
