Hi all
The 3.5 beta is out, try out the new widget that gives you quick access to product control. Let me know what you think including ideas for what this widget could be used for going forward.

The widget doesnt show up as an option on iOS14 (public beta), which I guess you may be aware of.
On my iOS 13 devices, it does show up, but some of the product icons have no images, as below
- A9, BS2 show icons
- Avant MK1, BV12/BS4, and Moment show blank tiles
With iOS 14 the Widgets can be small, medium or large. It would be useful if, for the medium / large versions especially, the widget also shows what is playing. This will probably need to be limited to (what is playing) on the most recently activated product. Otherwise the widget as it is just works as a shortcut to the app. I know Apple widgets are a little restrictive in how interactive they are, but displaying the now playing info in the widget would make it more useful. Given that most of us will move to iOS14, I'd definitely think about how to make the most of the different amounts of information that can eb displayed with the small, medium, large options going forward.
In addition, I'd also suggest adding options to the long press on the app - if I long press the Tidal app icon, there are options for Now Playing and Playlists, Deezer long press shows a Start Flow option too. So if now playing info isn't / cant be added to the Widget (as described above), then why not add options (as Tidal have done) to the long press option.
Anyway, my suggestions for what they're worth.

I don't use Beolink in my set up. However, on my iPhone X everything seems a bit more snappy (no missing icons for me).
B&O in my life 😊:
Generally I am not a widget guy.
In the screenshot 3 products are displayed, that I never use the app for (except very seldom for configuration) - why must I see these (if widget, then let med choose which products to display, please).
From the 4 I use, two are without icons....not very helpfull.
And it is a bad habit to divide a word (Beosoun d) into two lines!
Since I run the Bang & Olufsen app on (3) dedicated iPads, I hardly need widgets.

That’s better.
But - why not let us choose which products to show in the widget view?
By the way - all my products are in the products list (under configuration) in the app, but - from the 3 non NL devices - only the S3 is shown in the products list on the main side there.
Dyssegaard:Missing icons fixed :
Hi guys
I have deployed an update fixing the alignment issues and added a fallback icon. Unfortunately we do not have icons for the older products yet, we will add them as they come. The ordering is the same as in the app but this is just the first version. We will make a lot of tweaks on this in the future based on customer feedback.

Great.
When will you fix the strange looking multiroom icon in the iPad version?
/Claes
Hej Mr Andersen,
I might be the only one (?), who would pledge for a possibitity to choose which icons = which products to show in the widgets view.
That goes for the products view in the app itself as well.
But I’d still like to know if that is on the roadmap?
Let people decide, what to see, make it costumisable.
MM: Yes, we will make it configurable
Claes: Could you post a screenshot of the Beolink icon?
Hi,
The widget does not work on IOS 12 devices.
It shows "loading impossible".
Kind regards,
Yann.

Hiort:From the iPad
mbolo01:MrAndersen: I raised this multiroom icon misalignment a while ago to B&O support and it is part to the issue track list I’m maintaining in this forum where you should find the associated case #
Admittedly, I don’t use (or intent to use) these widgets....doing this just for testing.
Inspired by the post from mbolo01 I decided to try again.
That is curious, tipping (a widget for) a V-product opens the app control page aka the remote for that tv, which seems to be ok and helpfull.
However, tipping one for an A product seems to open the app in the view, that was the last one used there.
Not very logical.
As an example tippinng the widget for my Playnaker (that I don’t even want to see there) opens the previous used control page for the tv.
Tipping the widget of my Essence opens the product page with the V1 highlightened (because that was the last viewed).....etc.
Anyone else have the same behaviour?
Millemissen:However, tipping one for an A product seems to open the app in the view, that was the last one used there.
mbolo01: Millemissen: However, tipping one for an A product seems to open the app in the view, that was the last one used there. I only have A products and tipping one in the list opens the A product settings page.

I only have A products and tipping one in the list opens the A product settings page.
Makes it even more funny.
By the way - I am on an iPad, latest OS.
I will have the icon misalignment fixed, sorry for the delay on that one.
This is just the first step for our widgets, we will look into specialized actions for the products and additional control. Currently, we're looking at other apps for inspiration as well, the Philips Hue is one we're looking at. If you have other good examples please let me know.

Strange behavour with my BS Shape. The app doesn't see the Shape in Multiroom anymore.
picture 1: start a source on the Harmony and want to multiroom to the Shape,
picture 2: but the Shape is not listed in the Multiroom anymore
picture 3: goto the Shape and choose "Touch to join" and the Shape is added as can be seen in
picture 4.
Note: The same behavour if another NL device is the "group leader". With BLGW and Beoliving everything works as expected
mbolo01:Multiroom icon misalignment "fixed" in latest 3.5 beta. Note: I would have placed the multiroom icon just before the product type name, like it is placed in the iPhone version, for better look and consistency. mbolo01: After testing the IOS widget feature, I honestly don’t see any added value for it.
MrAndersen:If you have other good examples please let me know.
For me a widget has only a value, when I do not need to open the related App. When I anyway have to open the App I can directly open it, no need at all for a widget.
I like the widget of iPeng to control the music stream from my LMS (Logitech Media Server / former Squeezebox). The iPeng widget offers three different views on the iPhone / iPad selectable within the widget.
1. View: A small overview showing what music is currently played with the most important control keys. This view I use most often. It automatically selects the device that is currently playing or the device that was selected last (view 2) or the device playing last.
2. View: A selection view to choose between the different multiroom devices (when selecting a device here is shown in view 1 - instead of the default one). This view I use only sometimes - only when I use several multiroom devices parallel playing different sources. Because most of the time when I start a device I go first directly to the iPeng App to select the music (Album / Playlist) I want to listen to. Later on, when I want to change loudness or skip a track the iPeng widget shows automatically view 1 of the currently playing device.
3. View: A more detail view on the currently playing music with some more control keys. I personally never use this view - but I could imagine that it could be interesting for other users.
In summery basic music control via widget, so no need to open the App.
@Alsfeld
I tend to agree with you - widgets makes sense, when the give you basic control without having to open the actual app.
(Otherweise I’d just call them ‘shortcuts’).
Thanks for pointing to the widget for iPeng - did not know there was any.
Nowadays I use my LMS/Squezzebox too little obviously.
Alsfeld:I like the widget of iPeng
I wish the widget had a logo for the Core. Right now it just shows the default image.

Investing time in a highly interactive widgets on iOS might not make a lot of sense at this point in time – iOS 14 introduces significant changes to the widget API, and whilst the current style interactive widgets will still work, they can't be added to the home screen. The new widgets that can be placed on the home screen can basically only present shortcuts that launch the app, along with periodically updated data – much like how the Bang & Olufsen widget already works.
