Do any of the newer video products such as the BeoSystem 4 support AST? I don't see it mentioned any more. It also seems the discontinuation of the Beo6 would make it difficult to change listening positions.

Hi Paul,

The AST algorithm is not included in the the BeoSystem 4  (or BeoPlay V1, BeoVisions 11 and Avant). However, these products all allow for you to create up to 9 different "Speaker Groups", each of which can have it own:

  • listening position (i.e. Speaker Level and Speaker Distance)
  • Loudspeaker constellation (e.g. which loudspeakers are on and which are off)
  • audio channel -> loudspeaker assignment
  • name

Once these have been created for your listening positions and/or requirements (i.e. 2.0 vs. 5.1 listening in the same listening position) then you can switch between Speaker Groups in a number of different ways on different remotes. For example, on the Beo4, the two fastest ways are

  1. press LIST on the remote until the display reads SPEAKER and press the GO button to bring up the list of available Speaker Groups
  2. press LIST on the remote until the display reads SPEAKER and press the number of the Speaker Group you want to use

Hope this helps.

Cheers

-geoff
