Google Home Chromecast: Start Spotify on Essence MKII

I have now also a Goggle Home Mini and trying to start a cast (e.g. Spotify) on my Essence MKII, is set as the default speaker in the Hoogle Home app. Mini confirms my voice command but Essence is not starting the sound. Even though I can see in the Beo Remote app, that Essence is switching to Chromcast as source.

 

Has anyone a similar setup working at home?

I had it working a month or two back, but not as the default speaker.

Also I am not sure I was trying to auto-start Spotify ... from memory I typically cranked everything by hand to get it started ....

I got a random song playing ...

“ Hey Google play Lana Del Rey on speakers”

Ahhh that’s better :)

Before starting the test I checked my Apps were up and the configuration was looking good.

I have just replied to your other post about the Beta testing. My issue was at first that in my country Google Home is not fully supported. So I had to use a VPN with US IP address to enable Google Home app to set Spotify as default music service.

However, unfortunately I still cannot trigger the Essence playing by a voice command on the Google Home Mini.

It will be Wednesday before I can try an isolation test of just the E2 and the google Home mini.

No need for converting or ripping software there!

And the Essence does not need to know where the music is coming from either.

It just plays what is casted - because it has Chromecast built-in.

The Google Assistant however, needs to know which music provider, you use/have told it to use by default.

Could be Spotify.......or Google Music or Pandora.

And since it is Chromecast, you can not distribute that further on the NL network - you will have to use the Google grouping feature for multiroom.

Both the BellaGorden account and the LisaBrown account have obviously been created to promote Spotify ripping software.  Both are recently-created accounts with just a few posts, and all posts from both accounts promote ripping software.  I guarantee it's the same person behind both accounts, either the software developer or a paid shill.

This happens quite regularly.

An old thread with some reference to Spotify or Apple Music suddenly reappears with a link to some “tool” for downloading or ripping.
