Hi,

I've just inherited a BeoMaster 3000-2 & BeoGram 3000 turntable.

I'm now looking for some speakers to accompany them.

I've beed searching for the BeoVox 3800's but to far not having much luck.

Can anyone suggest any alternatives that I could be seeking out?

Thanks,

Hi

In the danish catalogue from 1973 they suggest BeoVox 4703.

To go with your BeoMaster 3000-2 and BeoGram 3000. They call that BeoSystem 3000.

In the german catalogue also from 1973 they suggest BeoVox 3702, 4702 or 4802.

Good luck

Two very nice pieces of vintage B&O.

The Beovox 3800s, with their 12” bass unit were a specific speaker produced for the U.K. market to take advantage of the purchase tax regulations pertaining at the time. They are uncommon beasts now and the beautiful trumpet stands made for them are as rare as the proverbial hens’ teeth.

As for other suitable speakers, that would to some extent depend on a number of factors, not least the home environment. For example, how big a room would you be listening in? Would you want the loudspeakers to be shelf or wall-mounted or on stands in free space? How important is it for the speakers to be contemporary with the other equipment?

Basically pretty much any passive B&O speaker of the period and later would work with the 3000.2. If I were looking for the best combination of reasonably small size, adaptability, relatively contemporary with the system you have and offering excellent, accurate performance, apart from ultimate bass levels, I’d look seriously at the Beovox S45 and S45.2s from the mid/late 70s - 1982. Here’s a link to Beocentral’s website which complements the information available here on Beoworld

A popular choice around here is the Beovox S45.2, and with good reason. It is a remarkable performer for its size and is also available in matching wood configurations to the BMs of the era. Really can’t go wrong, but make sure you have the magnets glued in place as soon as possible and handle extra gently until you do.
