As a long term BV7-40 Mk 3 owner, Ive got a 4k volume brand in the playroom - but wondering about what to do with the BV7.

Ive started looking around at options - and (as my BV7 was 10 years ago) i was looking at eBay :

Bang & Olufsen B&O Beovision Avant 55, Floorstand & BeoRemote One

Bang & Olufsen Beovision Avant 55 Television & Floor Stand

These two seem to be first gen (which a couple fo forum posters have suggested is better to get as its B&O OS and not Android which is later and has issues).

Other than 4k and awesome to look at and be a huge step up from BV7 - i know i'll be giving up on HDR (which i may not notice) but would be able to stream 4k and attach a 4K player of some sort.

Are there gotchas i need to consider or advise to "Steer well clear' anyone wants to suggest ?

YEs an eclipse with the LG screen would be better quality - but unattainable price for me for a while...

Interested in the groups thoughts.

Hi, I’ve got an Avant 55, bought the same week it was released in may 2014. Very happy with it.

Only problems so far was wrong pin code delivered, but a text message to the dealer on a Saturday night fixed it. I also hade the front cover for the screen replaced for free. It was a common problem with the sets then.

The downside with Mk 1 is you can only have one 4k-source connected (only 1 of six HDMI fix it), and it’s a little bit worrying reading here of fellow Beoworlders having a faulty video engine replaced for a large cost.

I bought a used one recently, and yes, did the research which concludes the Mk1 is better. Within two weeks the video engine went, a very common fault, they seem to last about five years. the costs are about £1000- its the largest board in the TV.

I notice that ebay sellers either have no warranty if private or 3 months from some dealers- I like the TV very much, even with its somewhat uneven edge lighting but I would not take the risk of a private sale.

Hi Daniel,

could you tell me/us what was wrong with your screen?...i have an Avant mk1 and i think there are strange "reflections" if somebody in a movie is using a Flashlight or CarLights are making unreal reflecions.

Thanks and Greetings,

Siggi
