I came accross this ebay listing this morning

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MMC3-B-O-Bang-Olufsen-Beocenter-7007-with-remote-control-New-LEDs-on-display/293575617590?hash=item445a786c36:g:pAUAAOSwmuheuCPh

and just thought "Wow! Look at those LEDs!" If anything, they may be a bit too bright!

I'm not aware of anyone else offering this type of service?

There was a guy in America years ago who was trying to do what this guy has achieved (can't remember his name) but he fell off the face of the earth before he'd cracked it.....

I messaged the guy to ask where he'd had them done and his replies to my questions are below.

I think I will use him to do the display on my 7007!

Cheers

Nigel

Hi there
The Beocenter looks fantastic!
Can I ask you were you got the new LED display from?

Hello. Unfortunately, you can t buy a new display. You have to do it again. If I had another one I would put up for sale but I don t have one. If you lived near me, I could do one for you but unfortunately we live in other countries. Maybe I will try one more set then I will be able to sell it but I don t know when.

Your previous message

Hi
Thanks for your reply
Any idea of what the cost might be?
Cheers
Nigel

grzegorzjustyna:

I could modify the display from your Beocenter just you would have to send only the display. Then, in addition to shipping costs, the amount would be around 45-50 EUR.

If made by hand, the price is around 100-110 EUR.
Hi
Many thanks for this info - very interesting!
Are you a member of the Beoworld website?
I think there a lot of members of this website who would be very interested in you repairing their displays! I'm assuming you could also repair the LED displays in a Beomaster 8000 or 6000?
Cheers
Nigel

I am not a member of Beoworld website.
I just had time and desire so I started playing with the display. I devoted a lot of time to it. I succeeded and I am very pleased with the result. I was thinking about using other colors of LEDs but I was afraid that I would meet with criticism ...
I thought about blue but eventually left the original.

As for other Beomaster's, yes - I can take care of it.

The displays in that Ebay listing look wrong. They are merely informative indicators, not meant to illuminate your apartment.
I rebuild displays back to the original light output.

Oh yes.
I only need the displays sent to me.
And only the displays.
Everything else is kept original.
No circuitboard components need changing.

It took me 4 or 5 different leds to match the colour and brightness as close as possible.
But once you start with replacing, you need to do all the different displays.
The intensity of the displays slowly degrades after years.

I have the finest tools for (de)soldering and the same for hot air, but nevertheless this isn’t one of my favorites.
It’s rather time consuming.
