Hi,
I have 4 Beo6 and 2 Beo5 I haven't used for several months, years for some of them. Wanted to check if they are still working fine. Of course, I put them on a charger as I imagined that the batteries were empty.
To my surprise, none of 6 remotes came to life even after several hours of charging. Changed of course the charger, but it didn't help. They all seem 'dead'.
My guess is that the problem is the battery. Does anyone know how to 'awake' the batteries? I can't imagine that all 6 batteries are definitively 'dead'
Thanks.

Batteries is most likely in bad shape, and if neither of the remotes are running the latest firmware, they will not come to life without a charged battery.
You need at least 1 battery with power on, and then you need the config tool to get them all updated with the latest FW. Then you might get the ones where battery is just dead back to life, some batteries will need changing.
All of them can come back to life with some work. Dont send them in to B&O, they will begin changing screens at what-not on those who will not wake up right away.
I have not seen one single Beo5/6 that could not come back to life with new battery and some config tool tries :)

90% of the time you can bring them back by simply unplugging the internal battery for about a minute and then reconnecting it. If not, then yes, move onto new batteries.
Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

That only works if there are power on the batteries. If batteries are dead, they cannot wake up and start charging due to FW problems in earlier releases. They need to be kickstarted with a good battery and then a FW upgrade. But it is worth a try, although most likely not a solution :(

I could bring back to life 2 Beo6 remotes after several hours of charging, but the 2 others were not responsive at all, and regarding the 2 Beo5 remotes, the battery is dead for one, while the other goes on only when placed on charger (immediately after removing from charger it displays 'Recharge battery' before going blank.
Noticed that the apparently dead batteries are from the Sanyo brand, while the Panasonic batteries seem to be doing fine.
Will do some additional tests using the Config Tool.

Great that 2 of them came to life. using the latest 6.84 tool, just upload a new configuration to the Beo6, then it will update BeoLo / Firmware, and then WiFi firmware.
The WiFi firmware sometimes can be troublesome. It is only 8kb or something, but it still can take very long. Up to 30 minutes I have seen, but normally 2-3 minutes max. But, if the battery is not fully charged, then it will fail FW update because of low battery.
Can you explain how to charge and connect wires to the battery?
For instance, I have 2 AA batteries, how should I connect those to the 3 pin connector of the battery from my BEO 5 remote (in my case).

I've been struggling to get one of my Beo6's back to life. I would charge it overnight and do the whole BeoLo update and Wireless firmware etc but it wouldn't work. Unplugging the battery didn't help. It remained dead for 2 weeks with me charging it and then trying every 24 hours (hoping it would fully charge each time)
Today I dug out an old battery from my Beo5 (I replaced it about 18months ago) and put it in. Charged it for 3 to 4 hours and it worked. The battery in the Beo6 was a Sanyo and the old one I put back in is a Panasonic.
Just an observation as I'm not sure how old the Sanyo battery removed from the Beo6 is but it will be newer than the Beo5 battery as I have had the Beo5 since new.
