Essence mk2 - link eye and/or essence remote

Hi all,

I'm struggling to get my remotes working in my newly acquired Beosound Essence mkII.

The BS Essence is hardwired and connected properly, all services are up and running, BL4000 attached and plays well. 

I have two different routes for the remotes: 

1) Link  Eye connected with BS Essence and can adjust volume, change source / track and power on/off. When using my BEO4 the green light flashes so Eue receives signals but does nothing, no sound, only power off works. Tried different sources on BEO4: N.Music, N.Radio. Cannot get it to work.

 

2) Essence remote, BT paired and can play/pause, adjust track but sound wheel does not work. Checked settings in remote and is in correct mode for Essence (top green light only). Tried repairing but no result.

I'm out of ideas how to solve.

I have the exact same setup, Essence MK2, link eye and essence remote with Beolab 4000s.

When I first connected the link eye it did not work until I changed the option setting using the Beo 4. I will take a look at my setup when I get home tonight and see if any other thoughts occur to me.

I’ve had the issues.

1. The Essence ha to be set in L-opt 1, if I remember correct. It’d an option setting. 
2. Had the same with 1 of my remotes. Send it for repair as it turned out broken.  

Using the ir eye, I press Radio on Beo 4 for Tune In and A. Mem for Deezer. N. Music and N. Radio cause the green light to flash but N. Music does not start any music. N. Radio also starts Tune In.

Does the Essence Remote show as paired in the app? Fresh batteries?

I got it working for a few minutes, in A.option 1 or 2. But I now encounter problems with the assigned sources.

I have a BS3200 through NL/ML converter in same room, the BS is in option 0. But the Essence took over the tasks for both CD and A.MEM (for CD MEM). Strange enough at start it worked: CD and A.MEM for BS3200 and Radio for Essence for TuneIn. Soon after the sources got changed and now I’m stuck with other sources assigned to CD and A.MEM.

On my BLC I can see that the Essence took over the CD and A.MEM source (see picture in gray assigned sources)

Any thought how to amend?

To clarify in more detail what I try to achieve: I want the BS3200 to be controlled by Beo4 (or essence remote or both) and due to multiroom sync problems the BL4000’s need to be attached to a NL product. Connecting speakers to the NL/ML and controlling with Beo4 works great BUT there is no possibility to adjust sound settings (bass/treble/loudness). Therefore I have an additional Essence mk2 in the setup, which provides more settings to the BL4000’s. Do not need the TuneIn or Deezer sources of the Essence because I have a Moment in another room. Trouble I have now is that I cannot use Beo4 remote for selecting the BS3200 sources (only through the app) and that is what I want.

Also tried the suggestion of Beobuddy (thanks) by putting the Beo4 in L.opt 1, no changes.

Thanks, see other comment for #1, regarding #2 you are right, remote sound wheel is busted. Strange because all other functions work well
