Hello,
I have just purchased a second hand BeoVision 7-40 mk2. The TV stand moves, the DVD player opens up, and plays a DVD, and I can both see and hear the DVD, however, when I try to see just the TV, or any TV menu's, the screen is blank.
Pressing TV on the Beo4 remote control appears to do nothing - pressing DVD turns the TV on, so power etc is working fine.
Is there any ideas on what to try to be able to see the menu's / TV / other inputs?
Thanks,
Hi and welcome to Beoworld!
It's a bit of a guess but perhaps the TV-tuner is disabled in the Service Menu.
To access the Service Menu, try pressing MENU 0 0 GO within three seconds. Then go to 'TV TUNER'.
Don't change any values that you don't understand, but you may wish to try a 'RESET TO DEFAULT' which is in there somewhere.
Thanks for the reply - this has helped and I am now further along.
I have figured out the following;
The Beo4 remote control that came with the TV came from a hotel, as did the TV, this means the remote does not have all the usual buttons.
Thankfully, I have another Beo4, from my BeoSound, so I was able to use that which helped.
I have done a reset to default, and have added some soft buttons to the list on my old Beo4 - its quite an old version I have.
I have a few questions, if anyone is able to help;
1) My TV does not have an HDMI input, however the red lettering on the display does show HDMI when I select one of the input on my Beo4 (V.Tape) - any ideas why this would say HDMI?
2) I want to connect a SKY Q mini box, via either HDMI to DVI, and use the DVI connector on the BeoVision, or, as I do not yet have a HDMI to DVI cable, use AV out to Composite and use the Camera input on the side of the TV, as a test, while I wait for the DVI cable to come. Do I need to set the Connection in the Menu on the TV to HD for this to work, the options are DVI-I, YPB... or None?
3) on my hotel version Beo4 remote, there is no hard button for "List" - is there any way to use the List functionality on that remote?
UKCamaroSS: - any ideas why this would say HDMI?
I would say that the TV's software is newer than the hardware for some reason. If it came from a hotel it may well have some special 'hotel specific' software and/or hardware installed. Do you know if anything was removed from it - a hotel module of some kind?
UKCamaroSS:Do I need to set the Connection in the Menu on the TV to HD for this to work, the options are DVI-I, YPB... or None?
Probably 'none'. The Camera input is a very basic 'composite' input, and on most B&O TVs it is accessed by selecting CAMERA on the Beo4 (you may have to add CAMERA to the LIST function). You'll get much better quality when you use an hdmi to DVI cable. You need to be aware that DVI does not carry sound, so how do you plan to get that to the TV?
UKCamaroSS:- is there any way to use the List functionality on that remote?
As far as I am aware, no! It's quite a basic remote designed to prevent hotel guests from mucking around with the settings!
