Hi there,

I have an issue with the MCP 5500 master control panel.  The unit seems to be working okay but I cannot set the time . How the clock is set is shown on the panel of the unit itself.

But after pressing the clock button twice , for about 2 seconds 4 zero's appear on the display and than disappear again. Even if I quickly put is 1 digit , the 4 zero's disappear again.

Is there a way to correct this or what can be done?

Thanks

Fred

I've encountered this and, luckily, there is already a solution posted at:

After cleaning the trimmer and replacing the capacitor with a Vishay brand one - I used a CPC Farnell CA07187 one - the MCP 5500 worked fine.

Assume that the MCP have verified the connection with the Beosystem? Asking since the entered time is stored within the memory of the Beomaster.

I tried with 2 beomasters 5500 but they both give the same result.

I thought the verifying between beomaster and mcp is automatic? Or is there a procedure to do this connecting?

There's no pairing.
It should just work - unless the Beomasters are in option 0 (remote disabled).

Hi Martin,

If the beoamster is in option 0 no controls are possible , like volume up/down etc?

I just cannot set the clock for my customer.

Thanks

If the Beomaster is in option 0, the only command possible is another option setting.
The Beomaster will react to nothing else.

With the Beomaster in standby press Sound-1-Store to set Option 1 (the Beomaster standby LED will flash once to indicate reception of command).
If, after this, it still doesn't work the problem is not with the option setting.

Hi Martin,

There was nothing wrong with the panel , just a little patience and  the clock setting was okay. So this issue is cleared.

Thanks.

One other question , the Beocord CD5500 does not read the CD the laser diode gives a very weak red dot , also on the camera on the phone I see the same very weak red dot. I have very little experience with CD players but it looks very weak to me. I have a CD50 her as well and that gives a very strong good visible laser beam.

Is there a way to test the laser diodes ? and if the unit is defective are replacement units available?

Thanks

CD5500: Replace the capacitors on the servo board.
Kits are available - PM or email me.

DON'T touch any adjustments!

Martin
