I need help and opinions deciding between these two BVs.

New to the BV offerings but I do have a BV 7-40 which is great.

Needing a larger screen I’m considering the 7-55 as from what I’ve read it’s up there with the best B&O has made.

However an Avant 55 mk1 is younger and offers easier integration to future additions.

Can anyone offer any help choosing or experiences you can share with these would be amazing

I have an Avant 55 First Gen, and I completely love it. I bought it for two primary reasons: plays 3D blur ays, and the amazing two motion floor stand. I bought it from a dealer second hand, which I highly recommend.

I don’t know the Avant MK1, but I have the 7-55 and for sure the picture quality is better than the BV11-55 I also own. Last week I read an article shared by someone on this forum that was rating the 7-55 as best B&O TV ever. The Avant MK1 was in good position too if I remember well.

Make it three.

However, if you don’t need NL integration and the advanced audio option of the BSys4-engine and more......,you’ll be happy with the BV7-55.

I edit myself as I found the article about ranking. The Avant 75 is in it, not the 55.

here it is:

Thanks - I did read that and that’s why I was considering the older BV 7-55.

Its not as expandable as the newer models but it sounds like the pinnacle of BV 7s is a hard act to follow!

l haven’t measured the space up as yet but I believe the BV 7-55 is pretty big and maybe too large for the corner I’m try to fill

As far as I know the BV7 is based on the Beosystem 3 platform, the Avant on more or less the Beosystem 4 type of sound engine.

Owning a BS3 for may years which I now have retired the sound quality at multi channel audio does not come close to the newer systems.

At least at my market there is still a big gap in budget for both superb TV sets which does not make it easy..but I would go for he Avant as also retired ML and switched to NL.

Great advice thank you.

I agree the Avant helps me create a better pathway forwards.

do you think version 1 or 2 of the Avant 55?

Researching this I’ve heard v1 was a better offering

Correct. But I also have to be honest and say that a number of us in here had issues with the panel after about 5 years which required a hefty €1000 repair.

Some got it made under warranty though.

That is what you need to be careful of.

Ok - I was afraid you'd say that.

That does concern me on the Avant line

I’m a little bit worried about the reports of Avants with costly screen repairs. Not so keen to spend money you could buy a new set for, on a old TV.

My LX5500 lasted 22 year (and my BS9000 with speakers are 20 years). Not so sure the Avant will last until 2036. If it does I will name it to “Putin”.

That however, does not mean that a BV7-55 will last forever.

7-55 any day. It vill not last forever but it is the best they ever produced. And it vill match any tv of today.

Beovision 7-55 MK1 red, Beolab 10 red. Beolab 50, all black. Beolab 17 broken ice. Beolab transmitter. Apple tv4 and apple express 2.

And it comes with a built in Blu-ray player. Does the Mk1 actually have the connections that allow it to play UHD tv? I remember at the time there was a big furore about HDMI specs etc.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

One thing which hasn't been mentioned yet is that you can buy TWO 7-55's for the price of one Avant 55....

Value for money wise, the 7-55 is incredible at the moment....

Firsly , I have the Avant 55 v1 and can attest to its vdieo engine issue, which was fixed under warranty but would normally costs about 1K to fix.

The HDMI  issue was sorted in an update so that one socket will handle 4K, and i use outside boxes to stream the content. Very pleased with it.

The BV7 55 im sure has a good picture , but those big bezels place it as a TV design for the early part of year 2000 and it looks hopelessly big and dated in my view.

Thanks everyone for their inputs.

With your guidance I’ve decided  on and purchased an Avant 55 v1.

Got this from my local dealer Rob at Danish AV who also delivered it and set it up.

Super happy with it πŸ˜€

The large bezel frames the picture perfect, and gives a more cinematic look to movies.
