This is an old topic, and perhaps old threads will tell me everything there is to know.
But just in case someone has new information, here goes: I recently acquired an old set of S45-2 speakers and they sound fine, but a previous owner replaced the woofers and they don't match each other or the frame clips that hold them in place. I believe the original peerless drivers are hard or impossible to find. Is that true? Has anyone found an acceptable replacement? Am I on a futile quest and should just learn to live with my modified set of speakers?
It's not an easy one to replace unless with an original. I haven't found any modern replacements coming anywhere near the original specs. The original woofer is unique to Beovox S45 (type 6302) and S45-2 (type 6312).
I have one original in the dungeons. Are both of yours replacements or is one still original?
Martin
Out of curiosity, do you know what the T/S specs are for it and would you share them?
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Both are replacement and mismatched woofers. Tweeter and mid-range appear to be original.
What would it cost to buy and ship (to a US address) the one woofer you have? That would at least put me half way to having an original set.
And how would I know if the current set needs (or would benefit from) updated crossover capacitors?
Thanks,
RS
Jef,
Sorry, I do not know the specs, but suspect you could find them somewhere in the archives of this site.
Capacitors - yes. Kits are readily available.PM or email me.
I was hoping Dillen might know them. If I had a woofer I could measure it, if I could remember where I put my TS measurement dongle that is. What a wonderful gadget that is, turns what used to be an hours long experience, at least for me with the old signal generators I had that drifted, into a 10 minute task.
