Hi,
I have a BeoSound 9000 + Beolab 3 connected with SoundsHeavenly PL MK3 10m cables.
I'm expericing a whistle noise, not a hummm. It's a high pitch sound.
Any idea? Both Beolab3 are power wired together.
Many thanks,
More information:
If I connect them with LINE cables it doesn't happen even if they are connected to the same power outlet.
Do you think it can be the cables? The Beolab 3? or the BeoSound 9000?
One last thing, it's a high frequency noise.
Some times it goes off for few seconds. But usually it stays all the time on, even if there is music.

Yes, one left and one right.
One is set to wall and the other to corner.
Thanks!
any one have any clue? I'm desesperated!
All bang&olufsen speakers have a high-pitch 'noise' as gain (anplification) is open on full. This noticable in front of the tweeter and should not get louder if the volume changes. (Without playing music ofcourse)
I'd try different PL cables. As for "all" of them having a whine, my BL9s don't, even when my ear is at the tweeter. No buzz, no whine. They're connected to a BS9000 using the appropriate PL cables.
Jeff
I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Hi L1NO,
I know that noise, and unfortunately is not that one.
I have tried to shutdown anything else around to search for any inteference and no clue what's going on...
Hi Jeff,
Which cables brand and model are you using?
I'm using a set of them I got from Sounds Heavenly, who advertises on Beoworld here. The ones I have are Powerlinl Mk 3, the ones with the little triangles on the plugs, designed for use with the later Ice Power amp speakers. I do know if you use the PL cables that don't have the triangles on them the Ice Power speakers will buzz. When I first got my BL9s I didn't have the right cables, I had old PL Mk 1 cables that I had been using on my BL8000s, and the BL9s had a high pitched buzz with them that went away with the proper Mk 3 cables.
thanks jeff
while i didn't have the triangle, i bought pl mk3 from soundsheavenly so that should be fine.
I will buy a diffeferent set of cables just to try on and see if it makes any difference.
I was thinking of buying the bosscom 5,5m shielded. In some sites it says they are mk2. These also have the extra grounding for ICE speakers? or this is just on Mk3?
I have received a new set of cables just to make sure this wasn't the issue, and unfortunately this isn't the issue. The noise is still there.
I have been doing a lot more tests now as it was quite difficult before (my first set of cables are inside the walls).
It seems that when both PL cables are connected to the BS9000 there is one that only can output one of the channels. So if I change speakers from Left to Right and from Right to Left. There is one speaker that don't make any sound. If I change the PL cable from one speaker to the other, the one that can't handle both channels is the other one.
There is clearly something wrong in the BS9000.
Also depending which cable is set to Right or Left it makes the high pitch noise louder.
When I connect the speakers with LINE to a differnet sound source it works well.
Any one have had any problem similar with a BS9000?
Probably there will be a problem in the PCB32 that hosts the PL connectors. Any one knows how much it is?
Thanks,
I tried to leave just 1 speaker but there is still the highpitch sound (but less)... still not an option unfortunately.
Finally the B&O service center have repaired my BS9000.
It seems this is a known issue in some units and it was repaired FREE OF CHARGE.
No noise now!!! So Cool!
Hi guys
After a long time i did some connection BS9000 MK1 ( type 2526 SW1.4) + Beolab 3 MK1 ...and yes ...WT--F
And i have total the same issue. ( expericing a whistle noise, not a hummm. It's a high pitch sound. )
I did tray at least 8 different cables PL ( MK 1,2,3,...ect )...not better
And if i connect to BS 9000 speakers ..BL4000, 4, 6000, 8000 it is all fine.
So if any of you know what to do in BS9000 to repair that issue please let me know.
It is really really annoying :(
many thanks for help :)
Hi
Correction...on BL4 i have the same problem...and different BS9000 ..
So it is looking like BS9000 MK1 and new ice powe speakers are not BFF.
Any hint...or repair oprtions from you guys please.
thanks
News ..
have try BS 9000 MK2 + BL4 and BL3 ..no problem and no pitch sound.
So..there is sometning different at BS9000 MK1 on powerlink PCB or other PCB.
As someone post a info that B&O did some repair on BS9000MK1 for free..i think i have an opttion for DIY repair.
Any suggestions from experts here on forum ??? :)
Hi guys :)
I know there are experts among you who know how to advise how to fix this.
Would be very happy if someone tells me the trick of what needs to be fixed or changed on the PCB where the PL connectors are in the BS9000 MK1.
I would love to listen to the BL3 on my BS9000MK1 but this sound is so terribly annoying that I have now had the BL4000 plugged in for a few months now.
Ask you for advice and a solution to the problem, you can also send personal messages.
Thanks for the help :)
Powerlink line adapter for Beolab speakers with line in via powerlink. You can for eg. connect Beolab 3 speakers with a Sonos Connect.Click here.
/ Peter Pan.
Thanks
As mentioned, i use Powerlink cables not RCA to connect BS9000 and BL3 and here is the problem :(
I would be very happy if there was a fault in the cables, but unfortunately this is not the case, or it is possible to add something to the connectors to correct this sound.
In fact, the output on the PCB of the BS9000 MK1 and BS9000MK2 is one tiny small difference, and it can be fixed.
Some of the forum mambers have the same issue.
So i think that all BS9000 MK1 have the same old Powerlink PCB which are not compatible with ICE power speakers.
i thinking its the digital ground pin that are not connected, (pin 4 / blue wire and it can easy be fixad by connect it to pin 2
here is shematics from MK1 on the LEFT and MK2 on the R.
Where is the difference ?
Beouser66: Hi, i thinking its the digital ground pin that are not connected, (pin 4 / blue wire and it can easy be fixad by connect it to pin 2
That is not working. Try it, or someone with BS9000 MK1 and ice power speakers. That is not working. Try it, or someone with BS9000 MK1 and ice power speakers.
next suggestion please :)...
sorry but i wrote wrong number should be pin 7 (blue) digital ground connect to pin 2
About the schematics it should be the same all Beosound should work on icepower speakers, but maybe something wrong in PCB from factory or after..
I did exactly that. Pin 7 and it was actually worse than before.
So this is clearly not the solution. In fact, i am 99% sure that the difference is somewhere on the powerlink PCB.
Considering that the to one user on this forum one B&O service fix it for free, I'm sure the error is small but hidden.
Unfortunately, no one has shared this repair trick so far.
Sadly, this affects all ice power speakers.
I did try wit different option during the day...no progress :(
