Hi
I am lucky enough to have purchased two B&O MX televisions. I am using them for some retro gaming via the scart input. I've got both of them on the same picture settings but I noticed that the MX4000 is better at showing black (darker black) while the MX3500 is a little more washed out.
MX3500 GDT 3163 (1990 - May 1992) SW 2.2S (the copyright year is 1989 which makes me wonder if this is actually a 1989 set)
MX4000 GDT 3323 (1992 - Aug 1995) SW 1.1 (MKII) (copyright year is MCMXCII which is 1992 according to my lookup of roman numerals)
Is there any differences between these two models with regards to the screen/display technology?
The pictures show the difference (obviously the darker black shows the MX4000 version)

Thanks you
Although the styling is the same, these are actually two different designs.
The later MX4000 is the better chassis, and more reliable too.
I imagine that the MX3500 has suffered some deterioration in it's crt by now, which would explain it's inferior picture quality compared to the MX4000.

Thanks, this is helpful
Unfortunately I've got into a bit of a dilemma with these two on which to keep. One one hand everything you mentioned makes it an easy choice but there's a problem.
MX4000 has a couple of lines on screen, they are subtle but you can definitely make them out when there is a plain background. There's also a bit of a hum from the speakers which can be heard when there is no sound being played. Also there is a small scratch on the acrylic screen.
The MX3500 has only the problem with the washed out black.
I've just seen a MX4000 go on eBay for £35 which is quite a bit lower than I'd expect since auctions for small TV's are fetching around the £100 mark.
Is there anything on a TV that would break/degrade that wouldn't be repairable? I'm only talking wear and tear here, I don't mean if I dropped it or anything.
