Hi B&o enthusiasts,

At this moment I have an BS Essence MK2 with BL2 and BL3, BV10. When I add an converter to this setup, can I use audio on the BV10 and on a BL3500? And will these ML products be visible and audio controlled in the app as well?

I will use it mainly for audio. Looks like solution 7 in from the manual.

Is there also a max of ML units (junction box) who can linked to the converter?

thanks!

The converter is the bridge between a MasterLink product/the ML master and the NL devices in your network.

That means, that the link products (e.g. your 3500) will follow your ML master as one unit.

Each NL product however, will appears as a device.

With the right settings (mapping of the sources etc) you will be able to hear/use the sources from the Essence on your Masterlinked products, yes (e.g. Netradio/TuneIn on the BV10.
And - if you have an Audiomaster with a cd-player - you could listen to the sound from it through your Essence.

I am not sure what you mean with ‘solution 7’ - maybe you could point me more directly to it (or post a screenshot) or even make a drawing of your actual setup and a describtion of your wishes.

There are plenty of users here, who can give you exact advice....if you have patience.

As for the ‘max of the ML units (junction box’), this has no influence on the converter, since it sees your ML-setup as one device.

The max of ML-linked product is determined from the ML-standart - I don’t remenber how many products there can be in the ML chain.....but it’s pretty many.

Thanks for your reply!

Please see scenario 7 below. Hopefully this explains a bit more :)

So I can use if for audio. But will the Beolab 3500 and BV10 creates an own icon in the B&o app so I can chose where I want to play to? Or works it just with the remote like Beo4 from each product separately and can not use the app? Or will the converter be seen as one device?

Would be great if there are unique icons in the app so I can control it from there. But perhaps I’m asking to much Smile

You’ll only see the NL/ML converter in the app.

If you want to control the ML-products via an app (including selection of the NL-sources for them), get a BLGW. Going rate seems to be 500/600 Euro atm, if you can find one that is.

Each ML-master must have its own converter, if you want to reach it directly on NL (and via the app).

With one converter you can activate the mapped sources with the Beo4 remote according to the settings done in the interface of the setup on the master and the ML-linked products.

Like in the example - with the there integrated BS Moment - you can integrate your Essence mk2 for easy access, if you want to.

Please notice the small icons in the drawing showing a remote respectively a smartphone....these indicate what you can use as control unit.

By the way, the converter itself can be used with connected speaker....kind of like the BeoLink Active kit. And you can connect an ir-eye there - for controlling it within the app/Beo4. It is possible to connect an external device there too (e.g. a turntable, cd-player.....).

P.S. As far as I have understood it, you have no second BV/Videomaster like in this example.

Yours is a relatively simple setup!

Page 57 is the important page for setting up the converter!!!

1990 is right - a MLGW would give you more/other options.

However, you must ask yourself for the benefit of controlling a BV with an app vs with the remote.

Personally I don’t like fiddling with an app on a smartdevice, if the Beo4 is right at hand and can do the job.

Each to his own, however.

Thnx for the reply both of you.

Ok, then a BLGW makes more ‘sense’ for what I’m looking for. Although I think it make more sense to invest in NL products from now on (BV11/V1 or higher) and same with audio. I don’t need any converter and can use both the remotes and app.

I agree that the beo4 is easy to grab! :)

Would be great if the Beotemote One can control non BV as well so I can skip the plastic remotes of the TVs and smart boxes as HBM2260 but that’s something else :)

Thanks again for making this more clear to me!! Idea will skip the converter.

You actually CAN control ML devices in a link room using the BLGW and Beo4 or BeoRemote One without using an app. You use LIGHT or CONTROL + [number] buttons on the remote to trigger any macro created in the BLGW. The BeoRemote One is nice because you can do this with just one press (instead of pressing LIGHT/CONTROL plus a numeric button) and rename those commands on the BeoRemote One.

Ok. But when I don’t have the GW I need a product like this: http://lintronic.dk/Products.aspx

Just about €500 for controlling a philips tv and perhaps some Hue light is quite a bit but then you have ONE remote ;) will take a look in it
