I want to bluetooth enable my old Beosound 9000 system to play Spotify etc plus establish a wireless connection from it to the speakers to remove need for tailing wires etc - what is the best way to do this - I am not very technical!

If you can still find a Google Chromecast Audio it is a great way to provide streaming capabilities to older equipment. You use your remote device to establish the stream and the audio will continue without the presence of the device. The stream is CD quality instead of Bluetooth.

Hi Sandman50,

Welcome to Beoworld!  Yes, I agree that Google Chromecast Audio (or Apple Airport Express if you use Apple devices) are the best options, as these use wi-fi for better coverage and sound quality than bluetooth.

Either of these devices can connect easily to the Aux socket of the Beosound 9000 with this cable:-

https://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/minijack-to-aux-in-ipod-to-beosound-beomaster-beocenter-using-aux-din-socket

Please set the phone volume to maximum when connecting to the B&O system – this is normal when using a portable music player with a home audio system due to the low output levels produced by these devices.

To listen to the wireless music, simply press "A.Aux" on the B&O keypad, or select this on the B&O remote control by pressing the "LIST" button until the display shows "A.AUX", then pressing "GO".

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Dear Steve,

My setup is BeoSound 9000 MK3 and a pair of BeoLab 6000. I would love to finally be able to play some of the digital music from my iPhone playlists through my B&O system and speakers. So I just want to verify that if I purchase an Apple AirPort and the cable you are recommending above — I will be able to accomplish this and this is my best option vs. B&O Core.

I am not a super techie, although I think I understand basics. I do have a Wi-Fi router, which is my one and only router also connected to the TV cable company fiber optic (FIOS) cable. I don’t necessarily have a home network configured. Just want to play from my phone or iPad and hear the sound from my beolabs.

So would I need anything else? And would I need to do anything with that Wi-Fi router as it relates to Apple AirPort or BeoSound 9000?

Appreciate your help and advice very much. Thank you.

Regards,

Otar

Hi Otar!

I’ve got an Air Port Express connected to my BeoSound 9000, and we stream Spotify from our iPhones. The source to choose is A.MEM or A.TAPE on the remote, or pressing the A.AUX button on the BeoSound (under the lid). It works perfect, on the BeoLab 8000’s connected to the BeoSound and in the MasterLink system all over the house.

Hi Daniel,

Thanks so much for response. That sounds wonderful and I can't wait to do it! I was a bit concerned at first, because I didn't see A.Aux on my remote, but your message clarified that and I do see it on the panel of 9000 itself and I do have A.MEM on the remote. So I guess I will be buying an Air Port and the cable from Steve's Sounds Heavenly above.

Curious: would the exact same setup work on BeoSound 4000 (i.e. Ouverture)?

Otar
