My BV40 Mk3 had been working effortlessly until someone in "broadcast city" decided to cease all MPEG2 transmissions recently in favour of MPEG4. I have a BV11 and BV10 that automatically found the new transmissions but the BV7 cannot.

We have been down this road before with the switch to digital from analogue but I didn't expect a switch from digital to "better" digital... all completely unannounced?

There was a thread running previously about this where someone offered a "fix". Surely a board change if it is available? Any other ideas?

It just seems so wasteful to ditch such an expensive immaculate TV which is not even that old that was working just fine until they changed the rules?

@PeterPan mentions Beovision 7-40 Mk.3, and it does say "DVB-HD Module for Installation".  Availability, a decade later?  ?? ???  You must be in Italy.  (If not, please say where else recently switched.)  Enjoy your 5G phone...

Since it most likely won’t be possible to get a fitting module,

(This transmission has been done long ago, where I live).

and the costs inclusive mounting and updating of the sw also would be high, I would not recomment wasting more thoughts on that.

The best way to enjoy the better quality of the MPEG4 transmission, will be to get a modern external receiver with MPEG4 support.

You will have to do a research in your area, which devices are best.

Another possible solution - depending on your internet connection and which apps are offered for tv viewing, where you live - could be to get an AppleTV/HD box (or simply a Chromecast dongle)

This must be connected to one of the HDMI ports of the BV7.

If you are able to, you could let the PUC table of the BV7 update with the codes of the new device (done by a B&O technician).

This way the box can be controlled by your Beo4.

Correctly done, your BV7 MK3 could serve you for quite some time.

It's hardly bv7-40 fault.🧐

Beovision 7-55 MK1 red, Beolab 10 red. Beolab 50, all black. Beolab 17 broken ice. Beolab transmitter. Apple tv4 and apple express 2.

Not Italy. Sweden. The free to air broadcasts here are now worthless (just nothing at all to watch)  I have decided I think the best course is to get an Apple TV for it, I already have a google . Having researched options with a pay to view contract yeaterday I am left astounded... 500-1000 euros a year for still next to nothing....... per TV.

WOW! How times have changed?

Just curious - may I ask….which programmes and how many did you see up till now?

For quite some years ‘tv-viewing’ has been a matter of business…..something that you have to pay for, regardless of which source device and/or provider you use.

I guess you still can watch the swedish national programmes for free (you pay via your taxes as far as I know).

In Denmark the cheapest way - if you just want a couple of extra channels - is Boxer (now Norlys).

Since Boxer operates in Sweden as well, that could be an option.
