Hi everyone, I have one of the last HD (720p) versions of the Beovision 5. I'm quite happy with the picture, having converted the latest Apple TV box to work via DVI and a Digital to Anologue converter. However, I'm aware that some members of the Forum have replaced the original screen with a 4k panel. I love the design still, and the sound still impresses, so if I wanted to upgrade the panel, how is it done and what panel would be suitable -- plasma or LCD / LED? Many thanks.

If you're happy with the picture I wouldn't bother!

What A to D converter are you using? - I presume just an hdmi audio extractor, rather than reducing the digital video signal to analogue?

Hi, thanks for that.

My Beovision 5 has a DVI, so the set up for a new Apple TV, which only has HDMI and digital optical output is:

- HDMI to DVI cable from Apple TV to Beovision 5 (but DVI doesn't Carry sound)

- Digital Optical out from Apple TV to Digital to Analogue converter box

- RCA out from box to Scart Beovision 5 input

- Select 720p resolution on Apple TV.

Works a dream. And I have multiple HDMI devices running through same DVI connection using a Scart switch. Ask if you have any questions. Still an iconic TV. Thanks.

That all makes sense - although I am not sure what you mean by a 'SCART switch' when talking about hdmi and DVI.

I was also a bit confused because the latest Apple TV (ATV4 or 4K) does not have an optical output, so would not work in your current setup.

Hi, yes you're right. I have an earlier non 4k version (forgot as have both). This one has optical out. The Scart switch is just a multi scart block. Needed because have Humax also connected via same setup. So to switch to humax i need to deselect apple tv sound and select humax (both go into same multiscart). Cheers

I changed the panel in my BV5 and did a step-by-step guide.

You find it here:
