Hello all,

has anyone ever tried to swap the tube screen of a VCR Avant with an HD screen?

Of course, works very well, you can even upscale it to 4K

The capacitors in those displays can zap you dead so be careful.

Wow! Do you mean they can zap you even when the power is off??

I’m glad I was never tempted to go fishing in the back of a CRT tv! Especially as I have delved into the back of my plasma - to disconnect the internal speakers.

I do recall a thread ages ago started by some clever sole who did stick a flat screen on the front of an old Avant. I also recall it looked rather good. Some intrepid searching should find it.

Good luck - and stay safe!

Cheers

Nigel
