Hi

I started a new project on a Beocenter 9300.

In this case the glaspanels have come loose over the years.

I was afraid that the glue roming would end in a hour eating process of spray stickerremover, rubbing with fingers and towels and scraping with creditcards and so onn, you know what i mean....;-))

A few days ago i bought the only stickerremover in a local hardwarestore which was avaiable.

On the workbench I first gave the remover a try on the plasticframe from the panels.

Took a small paitbrush and put the kind of pasty remover on the glue, let it rest for about 15 to 20 minutes.

I took a plasticspade from a Clou Woodwax box and the glue came of so easely I've never expected.

So I tred it on a small corner of the delicate glaspanels, let it rest for about 20 to 25 minutes, and the same success like on the plastic frame.

So I dicided to do the whole glaspanel, (put it only on the glue), and with the plasticspade it came of in one go in a long gumsy stripe, you can imagine how happy I was ;-))

Here are some pictures of the process.

This is no promotion or advertising!

I'm either not the owner of the removers factory non I get any money or B&O stuff from them or any other

;-))

Best regards

Chrischi

Thank you very much for this. I guess many people are happy to find solutions for an easier and better way to remove glue.

Thanks so much for sharing that. I have a BC9500 and some 3500 & 4500 components to do.

I’m now off to do some googling...

Always a bit scary - the paint should stay on! When doing my FrankenMaster 4500 glass panel  (various donors) I also used 3M VHB tape. That stuff IS sticky indeed! Remember to be careful with the choosing the thickness of the tape. Too thick and the rubber 'prongs' do not touch the glass correctly. There are some threads about that on the forum.

Nice work Spassmaker Yes - thumbs up

Hi Johan

Yes you are right with the thickness of the tape. I bought this VHB Tape accidently, before i used 3 M GT6012, wich ist slidely thicker but working well. Some guys take epoxy, but that's not ever removable anymore without damaging the black coat.

If you got scratches in the black Paint coat just take some black frosted paint and a little paintbrush. If there are a lot of damages, mask the sensor area with cardboard and fix it with some small weights. Paint in thin layers, when dry look through the Panel against light and repeat If there are still damages to see.

The carbonfields maybe restored by using carbonpaint, i've never had to do.

Never use Acetone,Thinner or paintremover, they will do what  they are made for, the paint is gone in seconds.

The normal foamy tape goo comes off easily with methylated spirit (in dutch: spiritus). my donor panel was 'fixed' with PU glue, but luckily that came off well. I guess it is always wise to do a little test in such cases, on a hidden spot if possible. Regards!
