Hi,
I’ve wanted a Beosound 2 for a while but quite honestly I can’t really afford a brand new one. I’ve been looking at secondhand instead, one in particular is 2017. I spoke to the B&O engineer that I normally go to, I asked him about reliability etc and if he had many go to him for repair. He told me that they are all sent to back to Denmark. So my question is a secondhand one is likely to be out of warranty and repairs by B&O in Denmark are not going to be cheap - how reliable are they? has anyone had any bad experiences with them?
I appreciate your help - thank you, David.
I think they've generally been fine.
Mine has been fine since I bought it, soon after launch.
And you dont see many (I cant remember any myself) issues that others on the forum have reported.
That’s good to know, I have to say (famous last words) I rarely have a problem with all my other B&O equipment, it was just the fact that a local engineer wouldn’t be able to do anything with this particular piece if it went wrong.
thank you for letting me know.

The BeoSound 2 can be serviced outside of Denmark, but that would depend on your dealer I guess. Here's a BeoSound 2 disassembly video and playlist with various videos detailing how most of the components within the BeoSound 2 can be replaced:

I also own a BeoSound 2; it was purchased brand new (but old stock) from my dealer and it was dead-on-arrival. From what I was told the biggest risk with the BeoSound 2 (and BeoSound 1 as well) is that if it's old stock or if the speaker had otherwise not been powered on for a very long time the speaker may experience issues with its NVRAM and "forget" its product ID and serial number (they'll appear as "00000000").
The problem with this is that you'll end up with a speaker that can neither update its software nor connect to the B&O app.
So my personal recommendation is to make sure that the speaker powers on and has no problems pairing with the B&O app, and once the speaker is paired double check and make sure that its product ID and serial numbers are valid.
Chances are if you receive the speaker working then it should stay working. Good luck!~
I bought a BeoSound 2 with Google Assistant earlier this year and it has been 100% reliable with no issues or problems experienced to date. I love it and listen to it most days. Highly recommended from me. Cheers, Simon.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
