Hi there

For some mad reason I recently went on a retro Beosound buying spree, and ended up with an original Beosound 2. How on earth do I transfer iTunes music from a MacBook Pro to its SD card?

Regards Chris

Hi Chris,

There used to be an “iTunes helper” that you downloaded to the Mac or PC. If you received the CD with the BS2 the file should be on it.

Alternatively, just drag and drop the files from your Music folder to the BS2’s SD card in the Finder. It’ll play MP3s for sure.

Hi Chris,

Since you draw my attention to that little thing up to the point of looking for one on the second hand market, I'm happy to try to help a little bit:

The manual says there's two modes: Beoplayer Mode and iTunes mode. You select the mode with a combination of keys I can't check now because it's late. I expect the player in iTunes mode to show up in iTunes like any iPod but I've also heard about that iTunes plug-in Lawrence mentioned, but not in the manual. Alternatively, copying files directly to the SDcard might work as it does with a Beosound 3, once you get all the funky limitations checked (root folder, bitrate, naming, etc…)

Chris, you also need to format the SD card using the tool in the link below, otherwise it won’t work. Used to love my old BS2, great little thing and don’t really know why I ever sold it to be honest. Retro B&O is the best! Enjoy! Simon.

Link...

B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.
11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
