Hi,
I have a BeoVision Avant 32 that I am trying to connect to HDMI inputs. I have purchased an SCART cable and HDMI to SCART converter box. To my surprise, I don't find any SCART inputs on the back of the Beovision. Do I need to take the back off to access something or is it possible that this is a US spec Avant32 with no SCART inputs, even inside? If so, what is the best way to get modern equipment to input into the Avant? Are there HDMI to S-video converter boxes that work well? Hoping to connect modern MacBook laptops to it. . .
Thanks in advance,
-Mac
I also have a US Avant 32, and I haven't tried this. If you invested a lot in your SCART unit, you can get another cable to output S-Video from the SCART. I recommend you go to the component inputs at the top of the back of the TV because that is the highest resolution available for the TV (480i I believe). Here is an example of one converter that may do the job: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/770115-REG/KanexPro_HDRGBRL_HDMI_to_Component_Converter.html
BH Photo is a very reputable retailer, so I expect it would work for you. Getting resolution to match is tricky, and while you are planning to use a laptop output, Bluray and DVD players that are recent use a copy protection scheme called HDCP. The listed unit says it will work for this, but I would make sure you test it right away so you can return if it if it doesn't work.
I pair my Avant32 with a Sony Playstation 3, because it can output component, or S-Video, play Bluray discs, and can stream Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon if you are looking for media beyond the PC connection.

Thanks, Gregg. I think that converter from B&H photo will work well. Somehow I just didn't realize that the US spec Avant 32 had no SCART inputs! anyone, please PM me if you want an SCART cable and HDMI to SCART converter for cheap!

I just found this exact US version of the Avant 32 here in Atlanta and I'm actually having some the same issues with getting anything to work through the component inputs.
I've tried a PS3, a digital to analog converter for OTA signals as well as an SNES with SCART output going through Retrotink's SCART to Component converter and I'm having no luck.
I ordered a BNC connector and I'm hoping that works, but it seems like others have had similar issues. Is there a certain type of a component signal that is needed for it to recognize it? Does anything in the base have to be connected to the upper inputs in order for those to work? I'm just really frustrated and confused so I hope I can get some feedback here!

As you have found out the US version of the "Original" AVANT has different input connections. The reason is that whilst everyone talks about SCART (EuroScart, EuroConnector) connections its formal name is Péritel which was a standard created in France.
Clearly in the US most people understand RCA connectors and alike, but not Scart unless they have been in Europe.
Below is a list of all the rear connections on an US version of AVANT

Razlaw:I bought a converter/adapter on Amazon and have an Apple TV 4K working with my 32 inch Avant. I bought this converter from Amazon but it hasn't arrived yet. I would love to know which one you have working.
I'm actually fearful that the Component/BNC inputs in general just don't work which I obviously hope isn't the case. I purchased the TV for the RGB input and as it lacks SCART (which is what I use for all my consoles hooked up to the PVM) this is the only input that accepts something better quality than S-Video.
Apparently other Avant 32 owners here have had similar issues getting component signals to work as I've searched this forum front to back and have seen a couple others.
Barry Santini:Hi Razlaw Please specify which converter you bought Barry
So you aren't using the Component inputs, you are using the composite ones with the converter correct?
The issue I'm having is with the DTV Component inputs.
