Hi all,
I'm new here but have owned B&O stuff for years along with my Pioneer SX-1280, HPM-100 speakers, Sansui 9090DB, some McIntosh, Teac reel to reel, etc. I recently picked up a B&O 5500 system with a pair of RL140 speakers. It needs plenty of work but I find it very relaxing to work on this stuff and it was very cheap. I just picked up a DIN to DIN cord for the CD player and realized that it is not working properly. I did search and found another thread with some clues but it was 4 years old and never was resolved. Here's what i've found out:
Am I correct that I should be checking out bad solder joints on a board on which these connectors reside? There was some talk about IC1 and IC2 (I don't know what those are) and that if the RCA outputs worked that the problem was between the two. Perhaps I have that problem regarding the DIN socket and another problem with the other wiggly RCA is causing that not to work? Any thoughts are appreciated. I know a little about electronics but not much. But I am comfortable getting in there and going slowly to figure it out. Thanks.
Check the 100uF caps in the analogue circuits for shorts.
