Hi Guys, I am new to beoworld so please be patient with me. My question is that my beocenter 2300 overture stopped spinning CDs so I took it to my local repair shop who advised me that the Lazer had gone.

Please can someone advise me on where I can purchase a new lazer and how much are they in the UK??? Thank You

You can find it on Ebay. Costs ...from 12 usd to 20 usd.

Good evening alls,

Since tonight, my BC2300 dont spin CD, that is no movement at all. A little noise but no rotation.

Isthis the result of bad laser or is it something else. In my experience with bad (BS9000) lasers, the disc should at least turn before the laser to fail to do whaever he must do.

I knew the laser was near the end, but last time I tried it worked 90% of time. Is this the same fault or is it something else?

Thanks to those who knows.

Hello

If I remember correctly, the BS2300 has curved laser movement, right?

If so, in most cases the laser sensor is not defective. Instead, there is a capacitor to change.

Perform a search in the Workbench sub-forum for this.

Edit: found them !

Thank you CB,

In my case the CD is straight.

Does this apply stil? Not sure if i was clear: the disc doesnt move at all, not even starting to spin.

Thank you.

Hi,

the sequence for starting a CD (or DVD Drive) is always the same:

First switch on the laser and try to get it focused (the lens moves up and down)

If focus can be found, and only then start the disc motor.

So in your case i would assume the laser is near or just beyond it's lifetime.

If the cd drive has a straight line downward movement for the laser, it's mostly a CDM 12.4 Laser unit.

Examples:  One in Germany and one in China.  Important fact: on the end of the flex cable the printing of the type. This 'guaranties' the correct type of the laser unit for a CDM 12.4 drive.  (Both sellers are neither me nor related in any case to me Smile )

I once replaced the laser unit in an Ouverture and in a Century. Both are working fine since then.

Then, as Ralph-Marcus suggest, change the laser pick-up.

Thank you very much RaMaBo,

Exactly the details I needed and obviously, the answer I wanted to hear :-)
