Hello, I am looking for some suspension springs for my Beocenter 3500, I have a friend fixing the deck and the springs appear to be stretched and are affecting play. Does anyone happen to know where i can get some?

How can the suspension springs cause a speed problem?Is something scraping when running?

Hi Martin, thanks for writing, I think maybe I mailed you about the springs and you were of the opinion that they could not affect the speed but my friend who is fixing it insists they could, I also spoke to a guy at B & O and he seems to think they could too. I do not have an engineering brain so I am just very confused
My freind mailed me and said he had checked, cleaned or replaced all the possible problematic areas on the deck and it was still running slow. However when he adjusted the platter spring heights, the speed changed, so obviously it does have an effect (basically changes the length of the belt during rotation).
He said if you think about it, the platter +must+ run at 90 degrees to the motor spindle, or the speed will wobble, which is exactly what happens. The belt must also run at the right height relative to the motor, which it doesn't at the moment, because the suspension spring lengths are wrong.
There isn't enough adjustment available to compensate for the stretched springs, unfortunately.
Any thoughts are welcome.

Could you please let me know who at B&O you talked to?
In all my 40+ years with B&O I've never seen stretched springs in these decks - or any other problems with the suspension springs.Besides, the supension springs carry the whole subchassis, tonearm, platter, motor and all.It all moves up and down together.
Speed problems are usually down to a badly adjusted idler wheel height or (even more common after all the years) dried - or if already serviced wrong - lubrication of the motor bearings.As I told you in the email, the bearings will need fresh oil of the correct type with the right additives infused (!) into the pores of the bearing material - not just added as drops.

Thanks for your mail, I will pass this onto my friend. I would really like it to work so all your advice is appreciated but if i do it myself i am pretty sure i would mess it up.
i don't know who I talked to Martin, just the guy who answered the phone. He suggested I take in the Beocenter and he would send it to somone who repairs for them in oxford.

My Beogram 3000 (but also 1203 and 1202) seems to have very soft springs that makes adjusting the heigt of the platter quite tricky.It works and everything runs fine but I need to lock one of the three transport screw for that.So I wonder if you never seen it but it's possible or if it may be something else.

Sure the three nylon bushings are fitted the right way?

Actually I can't see what your talking about. The springs have just some sort of foam inside.Now if you're talking about the ones around the screws that hold the bottom plate to the wood plinth, then yes I believe so: nylon bushings the leaf springs then thought the wood to the top plate.
Sorry, I was thinking about the motor suspension. That's where most problems are, when the motor chassis rests on the nylon bushings if they are fitted upside down.

Does it mean the platter suspension springs can wear, and then is there a replacement or any magic trick (like pulling out the spring one or two turns above the black plate) ?
I'm not saying that it can't happen, but I never saw worn out suspension springs in any Beogram.
then is there somewhere else i should look ?
