Trouble with screen resolution pairing new Mac Mini (M1) with Beovison 7 32 Mk3

I recently purchased the new Mac Mini (2020 model with the M1 chip) to be used as a media centre with my Beovison 7  32 (Mk3 - type 9344). I have successfully run this set up with an older late 2012 Mac Mini with no problem for the past 8 years.

I am unable to get a screen image showing my desktop on the Mac for more than a split second on start up before it reverts to a grey, blank screen. It has been suggested that the Mac is unable to pair its output resolution with the screen's (1366 x 768 I believe). I managed to get a (poor quality) photo in the split second that the screen did come to life with the Mac auto adjusting to the BV7's resolution before switching to grey. There was a lower resolution listed too (1280 x 720) but I can't get to the window for long enough before it goes blank! 

Using a separate monitor,I have tried using multiple different resolution settings  / refresh rates at both 60 and 50htz all to no avail in the Mac OS system prefs (Displays pane). These do seem to change and reflect the screen resolutions of the monitor attached so I am not sure the settings are saved when switching between monitors.

I am connecting the Beovision via the DVI port (with a DVI  - HDMI convertor). This runs through to the HDMI 2.0 port on the Mac.

The sound is running from the BV7 via an Audio Socket through a Coax Convertor - Optical to mini optical to the headphone port on the Mac. I just received a newer HDMI 2.0 cable (I was using an older HDMI 1) and swapped that but to no effect.

I am now considering upgrading the TV  - any suggestions as to what would be a close replacement size  wise - ideally not bigger than 40' screen. I would really like to be able  to keep my current surround sound (Belab 4000/s  / 6000's and sub) too.

Any other suggestions or advice would be most welcome.

Just seen the last two hours salivating over a new OLED Eclipse 55' screen.... Time to do some man maths!

Just an update  - with some mixed news...

I have managed to finally get the screen working using a DVI - USB C cable (there are two USB C  / thunderbolt ports on the back of the Mac). The DVI - HDMI cable option didn't work, as noted previously.

However, I am still not able to get any sound through to the screen  / speaker system. Previously, with the older Mac, I was using a TOS link cable (with mini jack adaptor) from the Mac mini headphone out to a powered Coax convertor to Coax cable to the audio input on the BV7. 

I have ordered a newer Coax convertor to see if that makes any difference. I'll keep you posted.

Looking at a Beovision 10 - 32 as an interim replacement until funds allow for a new 65' Eclipse 2nd Gen!
