B&O released stereo pairing for a lot of speakers. Any experiences?
According to the (somewhat unclear) text of the email the following products are available (all on the "second" NL-platform, so no Essence Mk2 / M5 / A9 Mk2)
Beoplay A9 4th Gen Non GVA Beoplay A9 3rd Gen Non GVABeosound 1 2nd Gen Non GVABeosound 2 2nd Gen Non GVABeosound Balance Non GVABeosound EdgeBeosound CoreBeoplay M3
Beolab 28s Beolab 9s Beolab 12-3s Beolab 1s Beolab 6000s 2 pairs Beolab 4000s Beovision 7-55 Beovision 10-40 Beoplay V1 32 inch Beovision Avant 32 inch Beosound 1 (CD player) Beosound 3000 Beosound 5 Core Essence MKII Beoplay M5
I'm not really sure what the feature exactly entails. Does it mean that you can only use the stereo feature with Chromecast? Or do you need to set it up through Google Home and are both speakers from that moment on "unified" into one stereo speaker for all purposes (BT, AirPlay 2, NL)?
Razlaw:I received an email saying the Core has been updated to allow stereo pairing with Google. Maybe if you have a three-zone living room with two Core-based setups, stereo pairing would make sense for listening from the third zone?
lawrencejmcook:I don’t quite understand what “stereo pairing” would mean on a Core. To me, it means making a speaker that would normally play 2 channels into one that plays a single channel. That makes sense when you have just one enclosure. But for a pair of BeoLab speakers connected to a Core, you can already select which channel plays (except for maybe the BL7 range and BL2500s). What do you think it means, Razlaw? Were there more details in the email? Lawrence

I had that email today, too - they write that my M3 now (with the new sw) has the option to pair with another M3 for stereo/2 channel.....using the Google Home app.
Quite mysterious, indeed.
As far as I know it has been possible to pair those for quite a while - but only if you use them with Chromecasting!
Would be great, if someone could shed some light in here.....someone with two M3.
By the way - if it really would be possible to keep them ‘unified’, as 1990 writes - why don’t they tell us?
I would immidiately be in it for a second one in the kitchen......but only then.
P.S. I don’t have high hopes there, however!

Maybe to pair two walls of Shape
The 2 bands on the wall edition.

You can group many Chromecast devices, different brands, different models. You could pair selected and identical Google devices. Looks like they opened the stereo pairing to other brands. Some info about pairing vs grouping here: https://gadgetguideonline.com/ghome/pair-two-google-home-speakers-to-create-a-speaker-pair-stereo-pairing/

Nothing new, really.
The big question is, will it be possible to use these two (set to stereo) speakers in other modes than with chromecasting?
If yes, then it e.g. would be possible to airplay in stereo to these....or or to use the built-in TuneIn station on both in stereo.
I really can’t believe that that will be possible.
They must explain what they mean by sending out such a mail.
If it is just the ‘old’ google stereo pairing, it is a bad joke!
Razlaw:Email I received only mentions the Core. It says the Core just became smarter and references a new update.
They probably only adress the products that they know are registrated to somebody....and when they know the e-mail.

I must admit, that I have come to the conclusion, that this indeed is a bad joke.....untill someone from B&O proves me wrong.
Seems more like bad and unresponsible marketing - just to get people to buy more devices.
I have a pair of M3s, but no google home app.
If I could stereo pair them for any source, that would be nice.
I have them now as a stereo pair computer speakers through the line-in with a L/R split cable. All is well for most use cases, but when having a teams meeting where I'm doing most of the talking (teaching from home), they shut down when my audience is silent for too long. Then when they do ask a question, I didn't hear it because they were still powering up.

You can adjust or disable the auto sense in the configuration menu! You can also fix the volume. Via the timer you could enable both M3s to wake up and shut down, in order for them to be powered up during teaching hours.
I assume this stereo pairing is a "Google Chromecast only" thing. So nothing that we will be able to enjoy in the "Beolink world".
Strangely, I have received no email regarding this.

Stereo pairing Will only work between identical speakers so you can pair 2 M3’s or 2 A9’s but not a mix. This will only work for sources that you can use for casting as it’s a cast-only feature. You need to set it up using the Google home app.
I would say though that the M3’ really come to life with this update having them play in stereo.

So I just paired my two M3s. Sadly, I can only use Chromecast. Seems so odd to me that you can't pair them in the B&O app for ML and airplay. B&O if you're listening, please enable this!
The two M3s in stereo sound sooo much better than one. Would love to be able to use them in NL/ML. Then I will update all my single point speakers to stereo!

I should have checked before writing!

Yes, the auto sense is already in its most sensitive setting. They wake up, but I still lose the first few seconds of the sound.
The timer/alarm is a good suggestion, I just checked, but I cannot choose the line in source, only tuneIn, standby, or an alarm tone. TuneIn has 7 channels or so I can choose from, I never logged in with a tune in account and it isn't selected as a standard source on the device.
Also, there's no duration to have them on, you can only schedule an event at a specific time or after a set timer. Even if that even would be 'turn on on line in', they would still shut down after the autosense tells them to, or at least that is what I would expect.
(I once posted in a thread about the 'retail mode' or 'store mode', which I hoped would do this, but I can't seem to turn that on. That thread is here: link, maybe we should take that discussion there?)
So the only way to wirelessly stereo pair any non Beolab B&O speakers is through chromecast streaming only? That seems like such a big omission on B&O’s part since you can’t use NL or AirPlay. Am I missing something?
