Hello all
I have almost succesfully completed a Beocenter 1800 restoration and quite happy with the outcome, except the final task with installing the cover.
Initially, the cover did not stay up and the spring (121) had no tension at all against the cover. I carefully took it apart, cleaned all parts, re-tensioned the springs and put everything back. But, when the cover is in its place, the tension of the spring pushes the cover upward on the back edge and the spring comes out of its hinge grooves, first from the slots on the plastic cover and then from the metal part.
For the life of me, I cannot figure out how this is supposed to work and I'm out of ideas. Please, if anyone has a working set or has successfully repaired the cover, could you please help?
All parts are there, the cover seems to be OK. Just not getting it how this could possibly work. The cover lid is quite heavy and would probably require quite a lot of tension on the spring to actually stay in the open position. I can't see how on earth the cover would stay in place under any amount of tension.

As soon as I posted, I found out that I'm actually missing the parts 118 "Bearing needle" on both sides and the plastic around their inserts in the cover is broken and missing. So probably this is just beyond repair. I wouldn't have thought that a heavy spring-loaded cover would be mounted on tiny pins surrounded by just a couple of millimeters of brittle plastic
Any suggestions for a workaround? I was thinking to remove the springs and pins so the cover could be lifted off when playing records. Without the working hinge it is too difficult to hold the heavy cover up while operating the deck.
I love B&O design and engineering, but when it comes to hinges and springs, their solutions have been utterly rubbish.
