Hi

I have a cd5500, everything is functioning, but the back left corner on the chassis gets pretty hot.
Inside is a "heatzink" with 2 pcs. 7805 voltage regs and a bd534 transistor. The surface temperature on heatzink meassured with an infrared termometer is 45 gr C. The plate is evenly hot.

Is this normal?

I tried to change electrolytics in the powersupply and the 2 7805 voltage regulators - no change….

45 degC is no problem.
The heatsink is there for the same reason.

When you replaced the electrolytes did you also adjust the mains voltage for the transformer to the the appropriate voltage? If it's set to 220V and you change it to 240V will a little if it's currently set to 220V. From the Service Manual:

Thanks Kim and Martin

Yes, I did change input mains to 240V.
I helped a bit but still the above temperatures.
Thanks for the good advice - always important to do this :- )

Also - I can hold my fingers on the heatzink, which many places is referred to as "ground rule".
Thanks for the advice Martin....

I will now listen with no worries to this great cd-player.....
