hi all,
I have a bs moment connected to my beolab 18. I recently purchased a beogram 6500 with mmc2. Took it for service and they told the beogram is in super condition but the mmc2 needs some fixing. I even listened to the sound which was not that good to be honest.
So I came back home connected the beogram to moment (the beogram has intergrated riaa amplifier) and the moment does not recognise the input from the aux. the sensitivity in the moment is in low.
any ideas?

Have you tried to set sensitivity in the moment to “high”? I’ve been using A beogram 3500 on my moment, works fine with sensitivity set to”high”. The beogram 3500 is essentially the same as the beogram 6500.

I changed to high sensitivity. now I can through the app only to select the "line in".
I see on the table the line in. I can hear sound from the cartridge if I place my ear over there.
But the beolabs 18 no sound :(
let's hope that the cable (7din to rca l+r is malfunctioning) because yesterday at the service we tested with the 7-din and not the 7din to rca which they custom made for me.
You may need to crank up the volume higher than you have when playing the Moment sources. The signal from the RIAA is normally quite weak. When I had a Moment with a turntable connected I had to put volume to 60 - 65 for normal listening.

maybe I should use a preamp or the beogram has any knob for increasing the output of the riaa amp?
Perhaps the BG6500 has been modified internally to bypass the RIAA amplifier. Someone may have done this to use it with a Beomaster or Beocenter that has its own RIAA integrated.

Easiest way would be to look inside and see if there are signs of tampering, or additional signal bypass cabling. To be honest, I would have expected your service people to have noticed if this was the case, but perhaps they were not that familiar with B&O, or even thought that it was supposed to be bypassed.
It's a longshot, but I can see that you are struggling for a solution so it's worth investigating.

in the service I think they connected it to a beomaster. do not remember which one

problem fixed. in turns out that the guys from b&o service which fixed the cable (7din to L+R Rca) connected the pins not the the position mirroring the 1/2/4 of the male 7din of the beogram but to the 1/2/4 of the female. simple confusion :) it was a rainy friday evening heheheh
welded myself in the correct pins and all good. sadly steve from sounds heavenly has no availability for the cable at the moment...
one last question, the beogram 6500 has mmc2 which needs repair. Do u suggest repairing it or getting a new one cheaper like smmc4?

A good result - I am glad that it was something simple.
When soldering DIN plugs/sockets, I always have to spend ages checking that I have the correct orientation as diagrams can often be misleading about which is the 'solder' side versus the 'pin' side.
I meant to add - although I have no experience of mmc repair, I did buy an SMMC4 for my BG6500 and have been very pleased with it. I don't use it very often, but the sound is definitely good enough for my ears. If you buy one, maybe try to find an EU supplier - I ended up paying something like 25% import tax when mine arrived in UK having shipped from the US.
