HI
I am new to this forum and I have tried to search for info. on the topic below, but i cold not find any relevant answer - It might have been discussed previously.
I have a pair of RL 60.2 speakers, where I can connect any standard speaker cable to the back.
At the same time I'm looking at a Beomaster 5500 complete setup and this setup uses DIN sockets on the back!! Is it possible to connect the RL 60.s to the Beomaster 5500 somehow.
As I understand, the DIN sockets are used with active speakers, but I do believe the RL 60.2 is a passive speaker.
The RL60.2s are indeed a passive speaker and will be fine with the BM5500 - it only has connections for passive speakers like the RL60's.
If I recall correctly, the RL60.2s have 2-pin DIN connectors at the edge (in additional to the bare wire speaker clips in the centre), which will connect to the speaker 1 connections on the rear panel of the BM5500.
I just found a picture with the edge connector showing - you would need a 2 pin DIN plug at each end of the speaker cable. If you'd prefer to use the centre rear connection, just use 2-pin DIN to bare wire speaker cables. Steve at Sounds Heavenly sells suitable cables but his site is down at the moment.
Super. Thank's for the help.
I just looked at this Beomaster 5500 today at a seller and saw the DIN connections in the Beomaster and for nervous that the RL speakers could not be connected.
I do believe that you can connect the RL speakers to almost any brand amplifier and the RL speakers have ordinary cable out-puts.
The RL60's (I assume the 60.2 are the same but not sure) have push-to-open sprung loaded bare wire connectors in the recess where they connect to the floor stands, as well as the din connector at the periphery. Connecting to the din connectors looks nice when you have the original red pinstripe curly cable but if using normal figure-of-eight stuff id use the rear connections.
Ban boring signatures!
