Hi,
I have an issue with the belt in that it appears rather worn and is quite slack but it did play up to speed with the speed adjuster on max.
I replaced the belt with a silicone (much more taut) one obtained from the internet but now the deck plays very slowly - should I try a non silicone belt? - does anyone else have any experience with belts?
Possibly it is a problem with a tired motor?
Any advice would be appreciated,
Many thanks,
Simon.
Your motor (bearings) will most definitely need some servicing after all these years, but I suggest you get a correct belt (Beoparts-shop) for a start.
The original belt has unique properties. No chinese, portuguese or german standard off-the-shelf belts will work as intended (no offence intendedto anyone in those countries, it's just that it seems that's where most of that stuff comes from), and no belts will "improve" anything overthe original. (What would be improved anyways?)
Not sure what you bought, but I have seen all kinds of junk belts (some cheap, some not) and even sewer pipe gaskets (about the right size but stiff as plastic!) sold at Ebay as B&O belts, and if it's one of the silicone belts I have seen, that turns sticky within a few years, I suggest you return it or throw it away before it causes a mess.
