Hi,

I am considering changing my 5,5 year old Beovision 7-55 mark II to an Eclipse 55. Do yoy guys think it is a good thing to do or what do you think?

I know that the PQ is extremly good on the 7_55. What do you think?

best Regards

Martin

Hi,

I also own a 7 55 mk2 and I have tested the eclipse and the loewe bild 7 in the same store, frankly for everything full hd I still prefer the pq of the 7 55. Its deep black still amazes me even compare to an oled.

If you need 4k then that's another story.

Until 4k is needed and we are far from that due to the lack and interest of the source, at least in France, I consider an "upgrade" a complete waste of money.

The 7-55 is to good tv to change if not need for bigger or 4k. Even the center whit bolab 10 is better. Because the voices is much neerer the center of picture than whit the eclipse. I’m suprised no one ever notised that. You can set the sound higt whit eclipse but it still not good enough.

That was my no go. And the lack of 4k material from viasat parabol.

Beovision 7-55 MK1 red, Beolab 10 red. Beolab 50, all black. Beolab 17 broken ice. Beolab transmitter. Apple tv4 and apple express 2.

Thanks for your opinion regarding the beolab 10. I tried every other center speaker of b&o and the beolab 10 was finally the best choice.

Hi

I’m a owner of the BV 7-55 MK II since Januar 2013. I was thinking about the Eclipse (55 or 65) too.

After all this years I think the picture quality is amazing and can still mess with the Oleds. It is important what PQ  you get from the sources. Most of the times I watch TV over SAT with 720p and therefore there is no need for a new TV. Even BluRay looks amazing too!

And the most important thing for me, except of the price tag, is that my older B&O parts (BeoSystem 7000) can’t be integrated with the Eclipse. There will be no ML/NL-Converter offered from B&O. So I’ll go on with my BV 7-55 MK II the next years and will see what´s on the TV-sector in future. And now Loewe TVs sounds more interesting than Beovisions for me…

There is a perticular thing in the 7 55 that finally brings something more special.

The frame of the new screens from whatever the manufacturer is very thin. The pictures is then close to the wall and its color. The wide frame of the bv 7 gives a cinema style picture. It magnifies the picture when the very deep blacks blend perfectly with the black of the frame.

What I can read from you guys is that it is "stupid" to change a BV 7-55 MKII to an eclipse.

A question: Is the Beolab 7-4 on par with Beolab 10 regarding soundquality?

Hi Olvisab, Do You know how many "screen"-hours you have in your BV 7-55?

I have 5.500 hours and are thinking of how long time I can keep my 7-55 before it gives up.

Have You heard anything about how well the 7-55 markII hold up against faults of everykind?

Best Regards
Martin

I have 5600 hours. The tech guy I know (official bang olufsen service center) has never had any for repair. The life is at least 7/8 times the count of hours we have.

There 2 fans under the tv on each side, check that they work and use an hoover sometimes for removing the dust on them.

If you are happy so far with the BV7 - and maybe even have a ML-based setup connected to it - don’t panic.

The BV7-55 is a mighty fine tv.

Just wait - there will be other B&O tv’s, when you really need a new one.

Found this old thread while researching the issue in the title. I have almost decided to replace my 7-55 with a 65 inch Eclipse. I have 50s as fronts and 12-3s as rears. Any opinions? Particularly sound quality given advancements in technology and the fact that the Eclipse would have both 50s and 12-3s in the setup menu, unlike my 7-55.

Old thread......but is exactly the question I am asking myself.  I am thinking about an Eclipse. Any thoughts on what if any improvement in sound I might get upgrading from a BV7 to an Eclipse? Connected speakers are 50s and 12-3s.

Although the 7-55 still is a good tv, I reckon that most people will say: you won’t look back once you have an Eclipse....especially with the 50’s and the 12’s as speakers.

One thing I really miss with a “real” beovision is the anti glare glass. My oled eclipse is really horrible at glare. I have to close my blinds all the time as it is incapable of removing even the smallest light reflections.
